@galveston75 saidThere are 2 posters who claim to be owners of this site. Ghost and Dive.
OK. Well I guess I'm done with this thread. Too stinky for me........
They destroy most threads.
@philokalia saidThere is such a thing as an interpretation... but there also is such a thing as there being only one correct way of understanding something, rendering alternative interpretations of its meaning incorrect.
This is a rare time that I think both of you are right.
There is such a thing as an interpretation... but there also is such a thing as there being only one correct way of understanding something, rendering alternative interpretations of its meaning incorrect.
Whether or not Lee Harvey Oswald was the only assassin of JFK or some such is not something that per ...[text shortened]... t the objectively correct understanding is being debated by we who do not know the correct answer. l
Unfortunately this doesn't apply to the Bible as a whole. The Bible is steeped in metaphor, is widely open to interpretation and contains inconsistencies, discrepancies and outright contradictions. Though most refuse to admit it, they pick and choose the verses and passages that support their beliefs and dismiss those that don't and often do so in a most disingenuous manner.
In this way, there many who use the Bible as a weapon against homosexuality. They claim that they are following the "word of God" when in reality they are doing nothing more than using THEIR interpretation of the Bible to coincide with their homophobic beliefs.
This is similar to those who supported slavery in the antebellum South.

https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/new-world-translation-accurate/
"Based on his analysis of nine major English translations, Jason David BeDuhn, associate professor of religious studies, wrote: “The NW [New World Translation] emerges as the most accurate of the translations compared.” Although the general public and many Bible scholars assume that the differences in the New World Translation are the result of religious bias on the part of its translators, BeDuhn stated: “Most of the differences are due to the greater accuracy of the NW as a literal, conservative translation of the original expressions of the New Testament writers.”—Truth in Translation"
If you had read the next few sentences in Truth in Translation, the relevant bits I have actually read, you'd know that BeDuhn went on to say ~ with regard to the specific issue under discussion about which you are bizarrely citing him here in defence of your organization's customized Bible...
"The introduction of the name 'Jehovah' into the New Testament 237 times was not accurate translation by the most basic principle of accuracy and that it violates accuracy in favor of denominationally preferred expressions for God.”—Truth in Translation

@chaney3 saidThis thread is about the twisted views 'you' have about homosexuality and how gay females are perfectly acceptable to you and a gift from God (though only the good looking ones) while gay men are abhorrent.
Ghost and Dive are trying to make this thread personal. They are flawed.
This thread is about church doctrine.
Your whole mindset is flawed rendering this thread ridiculous. Do you think you will find a church doctrine that will support your primitive dissection of gay people into 'good' and 'bad' based on gender?
At least ToO has your back.
@thinkofone saidSays the chap who has been trolling Kelly and Sonship for a decade.
DG and GoaD are both long-time trolls. It's what they do.
