Churches say yes.

Maybe some people of faith - or more to the point made by the wording of your OP - some groups of people of faith agree to leave the matter of sexuality to their God figure and welcome homosexuals into their faith communities.

They just open their mouths and the word comes out.

What are you trying to ask?

Homosexuality is clearly stated to be a sin in the Bible in both covenants.

Any church which states it is not a sin is an apostate church.

Maybe, then, the churches that you believe are "apostate" are the ones where gay people who believe in Jesus - and people who believe in Jesus but who think 'gays are ok' - can worship God together regardless of their sexuality or their views on sexuality. Meaning, the answer to chaney3's question is 'because those churches are not concerned about being described as apostate'.

'Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.'

Jesus did not instruct you to hate your neighbour or judge them if they happened to be gay. (Or black or of a different religion etc).

Probably the biggest sinners in the church are the priests, pastors, reverends, elders and those in authority.

Jesus said let the wheat and the tares grow together and in the end the angels will sever the wicked from the just. It is going to be a surprise for some, who are the wheat and who are the tares. The greatest of sins is not sexual immorality, neither is it failure to profess faith in God or Christ. The greatest sin is demonstrated by the priest and Levite in the Good Samaritan story.

Do you believe we, as a nation, should criminalize people who sin?

Jesus did not.

Yet there are a lot of Christians who say yes.

Hypocrites, all of them.

Being homosexual should be punished, and yet, cheating on your wife or embezzling from work or defrauding people out of their life savings is perfectly okay.

This is called hypocrisy.

I would say, rather, "Judge not, for your judgement clouds your love for your fellow man."

We are not told to judge, yet we are told to love.

And yet, it seems that humans would rather judge than love.

We are the ones at fault, not those we judge.
