It's because the topic is Authority, and neither he, nor the Vedas nor the Vedanta Sutra, have any authority. I thought that much was obvious.
That said, I think Dasa saying nothing is a vast improvement on what he's offered thus far!

I doubt that.
Anyway authrority comes from within, even if you are submitting to the "authority" of some said literature.
I think you are deluding yourself if you think it comes from anywhere else.
I have not even been able to tell the mountain to go jump into
the ocean and get it to obey me. I am usually the one obeying
some other authority, like gravity or whatever you wish to call
it since your authority is within you.

Yes, any authority does come from within. You give yourself the authority to tie your shoes and put your clothes on,etc. You dont ask permission for this.
Same with religous beliefs- Even if you agree 100% with someone else's version of god/spirituality, you still have to authorize that within your own mind before you can agree with that view.
This is real simple stuff, dude

Sorry, but all this sort of stuff just doesn't sit well with me at all.
Surely you dont give authority of your life over to some non-existent,(at least non-interactive), 'saviour'?

goes against some other authority that apparently must be greater than
my little authority, since I can not change it to suit my will. I think you
may be referring to free will to defy authority and take whatever the
consequences the authority has made.

must obey a higher authority or take the consequences. I do not even
understand what authority the Vedanta is supposed to have. Dasa has
never really explained this authority because none of us are worthy
because of our dishonesty, ignorance, meat eating, or whatever other
reason he may give. I believe the Holy Bible when it says all authority
comes from God. God, I suppose, determines what authority He choose
to give us in this life. As Dasa might say, I am too ignorant to know.
Originally posted by RJHindsYes, but you still have to approve/accept the bible's authority before it is an authority in your life. Hence, it is still your "say so" that gives the bible authority over your life, so it still comes back to you, not "God".
