moonbus,
The letter of Second Corinthians is where Paul labors to explain that the glory of God in the new covenant is more than just something on the skin put there by God. But it is from the inward divine life indwelling the new covenant participants.
Paul explains the deeper glory emanating from inward divine life in the new covenant from the shinning just up the face of Moses, ie. when he was on the mountain with God for forty days.
Read and come back to discuss with me Second Corinthians 2:12 -3:11.
@sonship saidYou know how to lie and deceive.
I know how to study the word of God and finally be persuaded.
And I know how to fellowship with people who do not quickly degenerate into insults to conceal the fact that they're totally incompetent to discuss things like this.
You twist and manipulate the word of God.
You fellowship with like minded morons who like Satan desire to become God.
Fools will look up to you and follow your stupidity.
Thankfully I have seen not one single support for your rubbish here so far.

The closest Protestants come is Wesley’s teaching on Christian Perfection, although variations were taught by a few lesser-known teachers like Witness Lee and John Robert Stevens. In 1975 the Christian Literature Crusade published an excellent book, Destined for the Throne, by Paul Billheimer. Billheimer’s book, however, was too close to “heresy” for the taste of American evangelicals, and Billy Graham assisted in the publication of a watered-down version in 2005. Deification, which is based squarely on scripture, is considered heresy by various cult watch and Christian apologists. I believe that the doctrine’s Mormon expression is among the top reasons for the virtual refusal of Protestant leaders to teach deification, despite its strong Biblical foundation. One popular denunciation of deification was Neil Duddy’s The God-Men: An Inquiry into Witness Lee and the Local Church (IVP, 1981).
Biblical Foundations of Deification: John 17
Sometimes called “Johannine Mysticism,” deification is seen most clearly in the phrase “in Christ,” which occurs in the gospel and the letters. To my mind, the clearest statement is in John 17.
I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (John 17)

Moonbus,
Continued quote from https://biblethumpingliberal.com/2011/10/28/god-became-man-that-man-might-become-god/
Biblical Foundations of Deification: Pleroma (fullness, πληρωμα )
The second Biblical description of the deification of the Church is sprinkled through Ephesians and Colossians, and relates to the Pauline use of the word fullness, which in Greek is πληρωμα, or pleroma. The word occurs several times in these letters, and we catch a glimpse (comparing scripture with scripture) of one of the mysteries of God that is, in the sense of inspiring awe, awesome.
First, pleroma is used to describe the deity of Christ. The statement, generally agreed to be one of the strongest statements of the full deity of Christ in the Greek scriptures, is Colossians 1:19: In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. This, as I said, is one of the strongest, single affirmations of the deity of Christ in the Bible.
Then we have pleroma is applied to the Church, twice in Ephesians as a future reality, and twice in Colossians as a present reality.
@sonship saidWhat a deceitful piece of garbage. A total twisting of John 17... inserting words that are not there. Why not just quote verbatim what the bible has in John 17. You are a sick, evil man sonship. Stop twisting the bible.

Got something of substance instead of snide remarks, then post it, coward
Matthew 15:18
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

"What a deceitful piece of garbage. You are a sick, evil man sonship."
James 3:8
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
1 Peter 3;10
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Sinking in yet?
@josephw saidIf you think the teachings of Christ is about condoning and supporting Satanic doctrines like what sonship is posting, then you are a damn fool as well. This is why Christianity has gone totally astray from Christ. Mouth worshippers like you tell people to profess faith and do NOTHING else. They are saved and can sin all they like. You are joke.

None of the Christians in this forum are promoting what you accuse them of. We never said that. We never said we believe that. You made it up and are projecting that into the discussion for no reason at all. It's called bigotry.
Matthew 5:22
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
@josephw saidWho said I was angry and who said you are my brother?. Brothers in Christ promote and keep the commandments of Christ. Not once in the last decade that I have read your posts have you once told anyone about the commandments of Christ and that they should keep them. You are not a brother in Christ. You are a church Christian who promotes a doctrine alien to what Jesus preached.

@josephw saidI do it Jesus's way. When last have you told anyone something like this:
Have it your way Rajk.
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Matthew 5:3-9 KJV)
Or how about telling people who it is that enter the Kingdom of God
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (Matthew 25:34-36 KJV)
Never. Not one single solitary time. You are not a follower of Christ. You are a church Christian promoting the false doctrines of your church.
@sonship said12 When I [Paul] went to Troas on behalf of the gospel of the Messiah,[a] the Lord opened a door for me, 13 but my spirit could not find any relief, because I couldn’t find Titus, my brother. So I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.

14 But thanks be to God! He always leads us triumphantly by the Messiah[b] and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of knowing him. 15 To God we are the aroma of the Messiah[c] among those who are being saved and among those who are being lost. 16 To some people we are a deadly fragrance,[d] while to others we are a living fragrance.[e] Who is qualified for this? 17 At least we are not commercializing God’s word like so many others. Instead, we speak with sincerity in the Messiah’s[f] name,[g] like people who are sent from God and are accountable to God.[h]

12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

How you get from here to "man will be deified" is a great mystery, and one that does not interest me. Your interpretation is essentially the heresy of Pelagianism, that man can make himself perfect by his own effort (by doing his 'homework' ).
