so you should only pray to either God or Jesus Christ and theres no need for a pope because he has rise above others as an 'idol'

What exactly is it that you think the pope does? Surely you're not suggesting that you think Catholics pray to him?

obviously you have huge misconceptions of Catholics.
    I'm a protestant-agnostic, but I know my church history.
The pope isn't their god, or their mediator, or anything like that, he is like their president, kinda like a world-wide pastor.
Another big misconception is the prayer to mother mary. Again, she isn't a mediator, a god or something like that. To them, it is like asking a close friend to pray for them in hard times. They don't believe that their prayers won't be heard without them praying to her, but again, it's like asking a close friend to pray for you in hard times.

And why is that? Do they have some inherent disqualification from voicing their view?

Maybe they don't have the right to free expression.

Or maybe they don't have any rights at all - some of our skeptic brethren may not think we're persons at all (howardgee - this is your cue).

Catholics believe that too. So, if the verse is right, then they are right as well (on this matter).
