Interestingly enough (well for me at least) he claimed to be the reincarnation of Eliphas Levi, a magician from the 1800s who died on the day Crowley was born. I say interesting for me, because when I was young I was obsessed with the occult as a subject and I had a book by Levi called "Transcendental Magic, its Doctrine and Ritual" reprinted for my own studies. In teh back of it was a subtext note on Crowley, whom I then became interested in. Most people know of Crowley and trace back to Levi, for me it was the other way round.

Sigh... I know it's hard for you to understand, but I shall try and make it clear. Being interested in the concept of the supernatural does not mean you have to believe in its existence. For example, I am interested in the concept of god, which is why I debate it here, but as should be obvious to you, I do not believe in his existence. Clear?

Of course, belief in the supernatural is not required to work magick--although a healthy imagination is a pre-requisite.

Just out of curiosity, do you think that the occult is unreal?

You must first clarify your question. Do you mean:
a) Do I believe that the occult is the supernatural at work?
b) Do I believe that people within the realm of the occult believe in the supernatural?
c) Something else, if so please clarify?
