If I prevented them from getting a terminal illness, yes.

The thing is this life isn't it, there is an appointed time for each of us. That means that we
all are going to have something terminal occur and there isn't any age that is immune to that.

Sometimes in life, bad things happen that are not a result of personal consequence. If God is truly merciful and all-powerful, why doesn't he intervene in these instances?

A tad corny old chap.

Yep, I get 'God did something' in that he created us, and that I have the ability to comfort someone dying of a terminal disease. I do lack, however, the omnipotence to prevent someone from developing such a disease.

God doesn't.

True, but He is working toward an eternal Kingdom where those things no longer are part
of our lives. This life is the way it is because we are torn between His Kingdom, and the
god of this world.

On the way home from church I heard this song and thought of your question, which is why
you got that as a reply. 🙂

My wife is a great cook, she had a cooking column in a newspaper for awhile when we lived
in Illinois, you'd be a happy camper being in our refrigerator. 🙂
