Well, you know my position. I don't think God has revealed Himself to you [divegeester] or robbie any more than He has revealed Himself to "pagans" who worshipped "Ashtoreth and Astarte" [or to Muslims or to Hindus, for that matter], so I don't have a personal dog in the theology race.
I am, however, quite fascinated by all the internecine 'TrueChristian' hostility and hyperbole and trash talk and smackdown and misanthropic self-righteousness...I mean these Christians in Indonesia they are "masquerading as Christians"? ... they are engaging in "pagan festivals"? ... [meaning 'they are not acknowledging the God of Christianity'], they're not 'TrueChristians' ... and so on and so on.
They were in fact commemorating the most important aspect of Christian belief: Jesus' death, Jesus rises from death. It is something that unites Christians here in Indonesia and many might be forgiven for thinking their celebration of the risen Christ unites them with Christians all around the world.
But it's not good enough, is it? Trash talk and smackdown and holier-than-thou bickering ~ we see it across so many threads ... pagans! satan worshippers! apostates! heretics! liars! ~ that feels like it belongs on a Sports Forum somewhere.
I'll pass the link to this thread along to some of my Christian friends here. 🙂

-Removed-How you got that from what I said puzzles me. It is ridiculous to suggest I was saying anything like that. I am saying the Holy Bible text itself proves that the Last Trumpet ministries are not 100% reliable and the King James translators are not 100% reliable; and I gave the corrected translation from the NKJV.
This text is not even referring to Easter at all. That was a mistake in translation by the translators of the original King James Bible. The Greek word should have been translated Passover, just like it is in every other place in the New Testament.
You are apparently ignorant of the Jewish feast days of Unleavened Bread and Passover. I don't really want to get in to trying to explain that to you at this time. However, as you said, we can believe as we choose.

It's obviously of deep importance to you to portray them as engaging in some form of "paganism". What more can I say? There is nothing to suggest that they are "pagans". They'd almost certainly have to look up "Ashtoreth and Astarte" on wikipedia and there may not even be an Indonesian wiki page on them.

Originally posted by FMFare you saying that this huge Easter egg is not a pagan symbol of fertility and it just happened to land on these two men as they were walking along the road to church?

There is no "pagan element" here. If there is where you live, then all well and good. I don't live in Britain any more. If you think that Christians in Indonesia are not Christians, then all well and good. I will pass on the link to this discussion. They may find your perspective interesting.

Originally posted by FMFits a pagan symbol of fertility! Id get to church as soon as I could if I were you and get them to fess up! who knows what might happen if another one just managed to fall from the sky and these poor men are left holding it!

-Removed-well having asked FMF to explain what Christians would be doing with a huge pagan effigy he seems rather unwilling to explain it, thus its inexplicable. He is harboring the delusion that because I live in Scotland and he lives in Indonesia it changes the fact. Wow hopefully a massive chocolate one will drop near me so i can eat it up!
