if you gleefully take others lives. sell children into slavery, or openly defy God - knowing of Gods laws. The place you could be facing is an indescribable nightmare
OK, so, say neither of us "gleefully takes others lives or sells children into slavery".

Say both of us live pretty good lives and end up more or less obeying Jesus' commandments [for religious/cultural reasons] ~ although you are a believer in his divinity while I am not ~ and somewhere along the way, you embezzle a few thousand pounds from your workplace and I embezzle a few thousand pounds from mine.

You never get caught but you repent to Jesus.

I do get caught, plead guilty, and serve a few years in prison.

What "consequences for the life hereafter" are there for you and me if we do wrong in "this world" like what I have described?

If God created us, then hell does not exist.

Unless.....He is a petty, immature God, who blames humans for instincts in which He gave us.

If we are flawed, God is flawed.
What if God is not flawed only we are? Then belittling Him would be a crime against God by a sinner!

God gave you life.
God gives you air.
God gives you food.
God gives you health.
God has given you all you need for life, and are you thankful?
God gave you the ability to know right from wrong, do you always do right?

That is a large amount of things for something which has demonstrated exactly no proof in 2000 years.

One can believe these things without being a Christian.

Was Jesus preaching a false doctrine in Luke 16?
Was not the Rich Man tormented in flames?
Notice the rich man said he was tormented 'in' the flames, not 'by' the flames. And it is torment, not torture.

If the rich man was tormented 'by' the flames, then it would be torture.

One cannot be a Christian unless one knows the right God.

One cannot know the right God unless one acknowledges who God is.

One cannot acknowledge who God is unless one is born again.

One cannot be born again unless one believes in Jesus.

One can be thankful, but not to God, unless he born again.

I genuinely do not understand your pedantic differentiation between torture and torment or 'in' the flames of 'by' the flames.

If I am in the flames in torment, then I am being tortured by the flames, seeing as the flames were created for that very purpose.

As a finite being, who are you to say who is the right God?

Yes, I know you are a Christian and believe in Jesus. But that's beside the point.

One can believe that...

God gave you life.
God gives you air.
God gives you food.
God gives you health.
God has given you all you need for life, and are you thankful?
God gave you the ability to know right from wrong, do you always do right?

...without being a Christian.

All religionists and believers in a creator being and moral lawgiver believe the things that KellyJay listed. You reaffirming your own religious beliefs does not affect this.

Never will as long as you think you know it all.

"The right God"?

Is that:

A) God
B) God and Jesus, who are the same, as in the trinity
C) God and Jesus, who are the same, as in the godhead
D) Buddha
E) Mohammed
F) Etc.

It's curious to me how everyone claims they worship the "right God".

Edit: Option G) Jesus, just Jesus. This option needs to be included because some have completely removed God from their vocabulary, and only worship Jesus.

If there is only one correct answer does it matter how many wrong answers that there are?

So Jesus drew on a false doctrine perpetrated by the Jews in order to preach about death. So its the Jews who had these false doctrines. God sent Jesus to preach to the Jews and this is what Jesus preached? He just failed then and made a bigger mess of their doctrines.

An you prayed and prayed and prayed and this is what Jehovah told you ?
What false doctrine? There is nothing false here. It was an example that Jesus used because he knew their beliefs and they could relate to it. What is so difficult about that??????
My opinion with some here including yourself is you don't want to agree when something is presented to you that is truth and makes sense but because of hardheartedness and not wanting to admit you are wrong, you deflect with really dumb answers or questions. You do this all the time so it proves who you are.

I believe what Jesus said .
That the Rich man was tormented in flames
The poor man went to a place of rest and comfort
Do you believe Christ?
