Why humans want to believe in God? or super beings?? it's because they hope to have a forever existence after death??? or just they hope for another chance to repent themselves for the wrong things having committed in this life??????

Human beings are pathetic and have to believe in something that will eventually save them (usually from themselves)
I am not a believer in God; but believe that we are individually in control of our own circumstances
Nature is cruel but it is the way it was designed
Survival of the fittest

@MartinS saidI feel bad for you if you truly believe this is the way, hope, and future of our race and always has been. I’m sure people start to believe at and for many reasons at different stages/times of their lives. For me I believe that seed/connection was planted in us all as Gods creation and it’s these different reasons, circumstances, times of engagement mentioned above that seed was watered and starts to grow and develop over time.

@eye-of-horus-42 saidMaybe if you figured out how to start a thread without demeaning and putting the people down you’re wanting answers from it would help. Oh along with not putting their God down you just don’t have the capacity to understand what your did, sad.
@MartinS Your right, But if a person on this forum is not able to debate logical, tents to insult you, maybe I should stop any discussions on forum.
Does this sound logical instead of the poor me attitude?
@MartinS saidWe as a species are blessed/cursed with self - consciousness and self - awareness, (and I don't mean blessed by a higher entity, I don't believe in a god either) depending upon which way you look at it. We realize that sooner or later it's all going to end for us, and we'll be pushing up the proverbial daisies. Quite understandable, therefore, in my opinion, that over the thousands of years we have invented and developed various beliefs and ways in which 'it' carries on; enter god into the equation, pick which ever god you like, the same rules apply.

I think your third and fourth paragraphs are in a way contradictory; we can of course control our circumstances to an extent, but can't control the 'cruel nature' bit; we can get an inoperable brain - tumour through no fault of our own.
Indeed 'survival of the fittest' is natures' way, but this I don't think any longer applies to us as a species. We aren't the 'fittest' species, and never were, that which we are is the most 'intelligent' species, and somehow we 'out - survived' now extinct species, and the various other hominid species with which we once shared the planet. It's also by the way the case that thanks to medical science and intervention, we are as a species becoming ever less fit; the weakest amongst us are still breeding, and we're not dying of things the way we would under entirely natural circumstances. Let's just hope that our 'intelligence' holds out long enough for us to survive ourselves...
And by the way, as an atheist I wouldn't agree that nature was 'designed' by anybody. Just my thoughts, no conflict or confrontation intended.
@eye-of-horus-42 saidI think it's more about thought, having observed the world we find ourselves in (the complexity and beauty) and thinking about what theories have been put forward about the how & why: many (me included), concluded that we have been designed.

Plus it's nice to think there was a reason.
