If I say to you, come here I'll give you money, that is influence
is it not? The point of free will is that we are not trash floating down
stream where we have to go where the water is flowing, nor are we
puppets with someone pulling our strings MAKING us do what they
want instead of what we want.

Yessss....but..... does God and Satan try to influence us...its like that cartoon with a demon on one side of you and an angel on the other!

Both do, God tells us this is the way walk in it, and the devil says
hey look at this, it ... whatever line he is pushing that feeds some
lust within in us, something to make us float down stream. The
OT and the NT both refer to a spiritual battle going on around us,
I imagine that it could be looked at like that, but I'd be willing to bet
there is a little more to it.
