It's so difficult to accept

It's so difficult to accept

Spirituality

An invisible God impregnates a virgin girl, who gives birth to a man born into a poor family that claims to be the Son of God, who preaches crazy stuff like "Judge not, lest you be judged" and "The meek shall inherit the earth" then he spends most of his time among the poor, healing their illnesses and telling everyone who'll listen, he'll die for the sins of the world. Less than 3 days after he dies on a cross, his tomb is empty, and he is gone-

He didn't need a leather bound bible, limo, jet, comfortable office, multiple houses, offshore financial accounts, a private retreat in the Cayman Islands, beautiful desk with matching credenza, tailored suits, or even TV.

It's so difficult to accept - 😏

I don't know about all that magical stuff, but I really do like that he said, basically, "be chill and take up the light burden" and "don't be a jerk to your neighbor".

In other words, "Jesus is just all right with me..."

Don't accept it. If you disagree with it, then it is not for you.

What does "die for the sins of the world" actually mean? It's just a string of words - an obtuse doctrine that does not stand up to moral scrutiny - that a minority of people around the world just so happen to have rote-learned, internalized, and recited for centuries.

Actually explain why this assertion about the death you mentioned is not "so difficult to accept" and perhaps I can accept it.

The link between all this and the teachings attributed to Jesus is tenuous to say the least.

If you hadn't been in such a rush to blow off the rest of it, you might have understood that this was his point.

I have addressed two points that I felt he had made, especially in the context of his thread title.

Perhaps you shouldn't be in such a rush to blow off the contributions of people who post differently from you and, in so doing, make NO points yourself.

OP probably won't come back to this thread, so why bother responding.

I have addressed two points that I feel YOU had made, despite your 'scorn for scorn's sake' post.

There was absolutely no scorn in my answer to the OP.

You are mistaken. You haven't addressed my first post at all.
