The apostle John was aged and deeply experienced in living Christ. In this epistle he simply speaks of the normal Christian experience as "the truth"

"The elder to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I love in truthfulness, and not only I but also to all those who know the truth,

For the sake of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever.

Grace, mercy, peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

I rejoice greatly that I have found some of your children walking in the truth, even as we received commandment from the Father."

(2 John 1-4)

Isn't this beautiful. With the apostle it is just the truth that he walks in. It is just the truth that his audience walks in in love.

There are about nine more wonderful verses in this short epistle.
He does the same in his Third epistle.

The aged and deeply experienced Apostle John just writes again of Jesus, a Person in whom we can walk and be in union with - "the truth" Yet he doesn't stand on his position as an apostle but just as "the elder" in the Third Epistle.

" The elder to Gaius the beloved, whom I love in truthfulness. (v.1)

For I rejoice greatly at the brothers' coming and testifying to your steadfastness in the truth, even as you walk in truth." (v.3)

"I have no greater joy then these things, that I hear that my children are walking in the truth. " (v.4)

Then John speaks of "the Name" - and we know Who he means - Jesus. Then he returns to "the truth". the truth is a living Person. The living Person is in "the Name".

"For on behalf of the Name they went out, taking nothing from the Gentiles. (v.7)

We therefore ought to support such ones that we may become fellow workers in the truth." (v.8)

...

To Demetrius testimony has been borne by all [b]and by the truth itself
; and we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true. (v.12)

It is lovely that John writes here as an elder and a friend. No thumping on his position as one of the twelve original apostles.

I had many things to write to you, but I do not want to write to you with ink and pen; but I hope to see you shortly, and we will speak face to face. (v.13,14)

Peace to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name." v.14

What part of the following didn't you understand?
[quote]
You also need to learn what the following words of Jesus mean:
"A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master." Matthew 10

The gospel in which you believe is not the gospel preached by Jesus. You l ...[text shortened]... spel preached by Jesus while He walked the Earth. They don't.

You believe in a different gospel.
You are wrong in almost everything you said, we are not robotic parrots of Jesus Christ words, we share in His Spirit, His life. His prayer for those who are really are following him, not those who mouth it and pretend, is that we may be one in God, this is Life, in the Way, in the Truth. Salvation with a living God, through a great and mighty Savior Jesus Christ. Those who cut themselves off the body of Christ are not following Christ's words of loving God and each other, and are putting themselves above others as if there is something about them that is of more worth than the blood of Jesus Christ cleansing them of their sins.

You preach mimicking and parroting you don't preach life, you preach human effort, not Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

John 17
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Those who cut themselves off the body of Christ are the ones who
- do not follow the commandments
- preach to others not to follow the commandments

The faith only people who either preach faith only or practice faith only, are not part of the body of Christ. They are part of the church / body of Satan.

Name one person who is faith only here that says don't follow Christ commandments. Please give direct quotes do not just make up a charges as you have done in the past with others without being able to back it up.

I can't remember you ever saying that Christians must obey Jesus' commandments and must do good works. I simply can't remember you ever saying it. Every time you are asked to do so, out pour reams of cherry-picked hedging and fudging that seem impervious to Bible verses that contradict you.

@ThinkOfOne

lol. You write this and then directly proceed to look to the writings of Paul and the OT.

One of the early signs that devilment is going on is to try to drive a wedge between Christ and His apostles.

1.) It is not possible.
2.) It is not necessary.
3.) It is not right.

1.) You may champion "the red letters" right from the lips of Jesus "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)

If John had not recalled and written it for us, we wouldn't know Jesus taught it. Same with all the other "Truly, truly I say unto you" sayings of Jesus, and all His deeds and words. The separation is not possible.

It is not possible to dismiss the apostles and claim you know better what Jesus taught without them.

2.) It is not necessary because ANYTHING you fancy you can point to as SOLELY the intention of Jesus to teach we could find an echo, a similarity, a corresponding teaching out from the experience and teaching in the epistles or in the book of Acts.

The words may not be identical. But what the apostles taught and took the lead to demonstrate by experience with the resurrected and available Christ, is the same.

I dare you to try to point to your selected "red letters" that are not also reflected in the epistles of, say, the Apostle Paul.

Try it. The words may not be exactly the same. But the concept is derived from Jesus, not Paul's original invention. And it is not necessary.

3.) It was 100% the will of Christ to have faithful WITNESSES of Jesus. What He taught they pioneered to get into and experience. It is only right that He should secure models to serve as those the rest of us would emulate.

The work of redemption was solely His for only He was the spotless Lamb of God qualified to be such an offering. He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith. But from the twelve on down and out to all the followers, as He lived by the Father we are to live by Him.

As the living Father has sent Me and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me." (John 6:57)

He set up the standard model of a man living in union with God.
If we internalize Him moment by moment, we in turn, will live in union with His continued living.

As the Father sent Him, He sends the disciples in like manner.

"Then Jesus [resurrected] said to them again, Peace be to you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.

And when He had said this, He breathed into them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit." (John 20:22)

It is right that His first followers and all others ideally, normally, should be sent as His witnesses with He within them as "the Holy Spirit"

You though, Think-Of-One WANT your

1.) Dead and Gone Jesus
2.) Put yourself into the office of a witness to His teaching WITHOUT God, without the living Christ.
3.) Want the world to look to YOU to inform it of the mythology of most of Christ's life and embrace your atheistic / humanist self improvement philosophy instead.

In this instance Christ's words do apply to you -

"He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters." (Matthew 12:30)

Your 24 hr memory is truly annoying. You have asked this question and I have answered. So did sonship and second son. Same question, asked like fools.

The answer is that you church people have never encouraged people to do good works and to live righteously the way Jesus Christ and the Apostles did. Your silence on the matter of good works says it all Jesus was never silent about this critical matter. Jesus was most vocal about good works even stating that only those who do good works inherit the Kingdom of God Paul and the Apostles said the very same thing.

What you do instead is speak negatively about good works and righteousness, referring to it as works salvation, as legalistic, as an insult to Christ, and Pharisaical. This actually encourages disobedience to the commandments of Christ in a silent sinister sort of way.

Your doctrine which ignores the commandments is of Satan. You are of Satan, Your church is of Satan. It is not of Christ. Had it been of Christ, you would have been guided by the Holy Spirit to remember and to preach the things Jesus commanded, as the bible states clearly. God Spirit, the Holy Spirit is not in people like you, sonship and second son. You people worship the Devil.

Your imagination again is all you got. Give quotes!

Produce one statement from either you, sonship, secondson, which quotes what Jesus said about good works and the Kingdom of God. There are NONE.

In a thread I started recently calling the three of you out and asking if you would preach the commandments of Christ all three of you refused to support the teachings of Christ in this matter. You followers of Satan cannot support the teachings of Christ.

That is the difference between us, I can give quotes supporting good works, but it will be as a result of following Christ not getting to have Christ allowing me into the Kingdom of God. We are to lay down our lives, we are to put our faith in Him for His gift of salvation, we need God to give us His righteousness. It is not by works we are saved, but God's grace through faith, and you instead are looking to win God's favor by being good enough by your efforts.
