1Timothy 2:11-13:

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve."

I wonder how many of those who voted for this were men.

And let me guess... you're okay with this?

Are you also okay with all the bigotry and hatred these supposedly "god-fearing" Christians are showing in the comments section?

Talking to me, or sonhouse?

I don't think the guy even owns a bra, to be honest.

And you know as well that I just don't agree.

Not with the bigotry and sexism these people display, nor with the idea that God doesn't value women equally with men. ALL this sexism BS is on men in the church, not God.

God seems to have screwed up his "design for gender" doesn't he?
But apart from that - aren't you meant to keep State separate from religion?

We have a winner!

Yes, this is precisely the correct point.

The State shouldn't be 'affirming' anything in religion. Any religion.

The separation of church and state is nowhere in the U.S. Constitution. I believe the Constitution only says Congress shall make no law regarding the establishment of a religion.

The Founding Fathers wanted to protect religion from the government, not the other way around.

I honestly don’t see anything in the Christian religion that is antithetical to good government but I haven’t given it a lot of thought. Maybe somebody can come up with a Christian teaching or value that would not be considered good in government practice.

But I’m not at all advocating for Christianity and government to mix. I wouldn’t want Christianity to be polluted by politicians.

To me, the very notion of "sin" ~ i.e. trangressions of the supposedly revealed will of a supernatural being as defined by an ancient mythology and a cult of personality that sprung from it ~ would be antithetical to good government.
