Recently the church of England appointed its first lady Bishop. It was heralded as a sign of the Churches progress. Similar ground breaking acts of its history were cited for example the break from Rome which although was done primarily because Henry VIII couldn't get a divorce from his first wife it did pave the way for the reformation in England, ...[text shortened]... Again this is simply an argumentum ad populum - many people affirm it therefore it must be good.

Almost all of modern society is anti-biblical. [and all the good bits]
All the progress made since the enlightenment in the west has been made by slowly
dragging the religious [Christians] towards secular moral values.
Even if they [either side] didn't know that was what they were doing.
We could make much better progress if this wasn't necessary.

Oh no wait, it's the other way around.
Just because they were Christian doesn't mean anything.
EVERYONE was [give or take] Christian back then.
What they did however was substitute their own innate moral intuition and rational thought
for the unrelentingly awful 'morality' espoused by the bible.
And as time passed what was classed as moral looked less and less like the tripe found in the
bible.
Morals became more and more something we decide as a people based on rational arguments and
our innate compassion and sense of fairness, [and eventually on objective measurements] and
less and less on the unchangingly wrong drivel of bronze age mystics.

The Episcopalian Church in America has had woman bishops since 1989. And the head of the church is a woman. Since 2009.
And we're FAR from "anti-biblical".
