A lack of empathy and a lack of generosity of spirit.

Ultimately being nothing but mortal animals, yet having the intelligence to realise this.

It's the foundation of religion.

Similar to the two above, getting over being insignificant. Some deny it, in various ways. If that works, who is to argue?

I think that's a consequence of mortality. (We have to do 'something' to take our minds off life's frailty).

I a little surprised and pleased, we actually seemed to take the blame
ourselves here.

Who else could we blame?

Of course. None of the people who have responded to your OP so far share the same vicarious dependency on "Jesus" as Christians like you do, nor do they blame mythological figures like "Satan".

If things pan out now as they often do, KellyJay is going to say something in the next page or two that contradicts this post of his, but he either won't want to talk about it or he'll insist that he has been consistent and will not want to discuss it with anyone who points it out.

Or... I may have headed all this off at the pass by mentioning it. 😉

What's clear is that he won't discuss anything with me because he thinks JWs should be allowed to let their children die if it's for religious reasons whereas I think the state should intervene to protect those children from their parents if necessary.

Has your faith turned you into a person who feels this way, or were you drawn to your faith because you already felt this way about your fellow man?
