I was baptized into the Baptist church at 12 years old.
I remember sing the songs, "Jesus loves the little children"
and "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the bible tells me so".
I guess I joined the Baptist church out of a need to be
loved and I wanted to believe Jesus loved me.
Maybe, I am not a true Baptist anymore, but I remain a
Christian because Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible
tells me so.

would be like being a true Jehovah's Witness. Do as the Baptists do
or do as the Jehovah's Witnesses. But my goal is to be a true
Christian and even if I don't measure up, I still believe Jesus loves
me. So I will claim to belong to Him, since He has bought me with
the price of His blood.

Originally posted by robbie carrobieI don't remember everything they believed, but the main belief
which doctrines did you reject and why?
which I have never been able to completely reconcile was that
once you are baptized into the baptist church you are saved and
you can never be unsaved. You may "backslide" but you are
still saved no matter what you do. One verse that stands out in
my mind is Matthew 10:22 when Jesus said, "And you will be
hated by all on account of My name, but it is the one who has
endured to the end who will be saved." (NASB) There are other
verses, too. But I don't recall them right now.
