    - where is it in the Bible

Thanks to any Christian willing to explain.

It is quite simple, we are not to stand off from God and let another tell us
about Him. We are to come to Him, be filled by His Spirit, follow His lead,
obey His commands, love Him and those He died for. There are countless
examples of each of us being called to God, this is a personal choice, and
to answer God's call is to start a relationship with Him.

If you see it differently, please explain.

If you are willing to wait, as soon as I'm able I'll throw together some
scripture for you. I don't have a lot of time at the moment, but will.

Ok thanks. First I dont 'see it' any way at all, simply because its an expression that is not in the Bible so I dont use it. Same way I would not the words Trinity. Triune or say 'trying to earn ones salvation is a sin'. Those expressions/concepts do not exist in the Bible.

As for what you said it appears that you group together some of the things said in the Bible about what is required of a Christian and call it a 'personal relationship'. And that is fine. However there seems to be a danger associated with doing that.

Here is an example from RBHill:

Jesus exposed those people who sounded religious but had no personal relationship with him. On that day only our relationship with Christ our acceptance of him as Savior and our obedience to him will matter. Many people think that if they are good people and say religious things, they will be rewarded with eternal life. In reality, faith in Christ is what will count at the judgment.

My comments on that statement are:
    - Jesus never said anything about a personal relationship with him [unless you show me otherwise][ , so the reason for his condemnation of some people had nothing to do with that. When Christ condemned someone the reason was given very clearly.
    - 'On that day' our 'relationship with Christ' .. will matter. If relationship with christ includes following his commandments then I will agree.

So I will wait on your references or further comment.

I learned that it is important to think of God as "thou" and "thee":

Psalm 63 King James Version (KJV)

    63 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.

11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
    King James Version (KJV)

Edit: I lack the qualifications to be called a Christian.

I agree. Its a show of respect.

Re the Christian comment... There is no value in the label Christian in these times. There is a lot of value in being a follower of Christ or trying to be like Christ. As Mahatma Gandhi said : Jesus is ideal and wonderful, but you Christians - you are not like him.

I'm not sure how you can miss it? It is a one on one relationship between
you and God, that alone makes it personal! It isn't like you have to go
through someone else, or something else. It is as close as family, since
we are called sons and daughters, and God is much closer to us than our
    earthly families are.

I'll give you scripture as soon as I can string together some time.

So no human can teach us or direct us in a spiritual way but only God can?

Read Romans 8 the whole chapter basically speaks to your question.

No. Thee and thou shows more reverence than you and your. Both are in the Bible. Neither is archaic.

Some humans can. Certainly not all who claim to be teachers are really teachers. How do you pick the right one ? My preference is to see how close they are to the teachings of Christ.
