It depends what is meant by "observed". If they mean, someone sat down and watched it, then probably they are correct. However, if they mean can look through time using the fossil record, and can watch mutants arise in real time (some of which are better than the wild-type, incidentally), then they are dead wrong.

Go out into a field. You are watching evolution doing its stuff.

Actually, the question wasn't what he was made of but what he contained. So he could easily be 70% water and still contain 100% crap.

In nature, living things evolve through changes in their DNA.
