Aren't you a little like the man Jesus? He is the secound person in the
trinity and is both man and God. The image refers to something other
than physical appearance BTW.

For sure. No harm meant by any of us. But I just have to say this. As we all know the Bible says it is not open for private interpretation. Do we agree on that Biblical statement?
So that means that their is only one truth in the Bible and it's up to us to want to find it then it's up to God to let us see it. Do we agree on that?

That's a tough one. Yes I believe there is only one truth but I cannot jump on the bandwagon which says the established authority has it completely right.

There's this thing--this little itch that won't go away--that tells me when all is revealed, we will all discover we got some things wrong that we took for granted. I'm all for private interpretation, and I'm a fan of Martin Luther in that regard. However, that doesn't mean I'm a fan of someone--privately or otherwise--interpreting the bible falsely and then insisting they are correct when the facts don't mesh. Go ahead, interpret it as you see fit. But you better do ALL of your homework before you start touting it as truth.

I for one have a very science-fiction-esque view of reality. Holographic universe stuff. I theorize that when we enter this "reality" we sort of "jack in" like they did in the Matrix. It's fun to think about stuff like that and the bible doesn't argue against it. However, I don't go around preaching it. It's just a personal belief and I keep it that way other than to talk about it with others casually.

Christ said:

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

He did not say to get the JWs to interpret for you.

No he didn't just as the Catholics, Baptist or Mormons are not mentioned. But anyone proclaiming to be following Jesus's commands would be shown by the fruits they produce.
If a certian religion had been named then the work needed to search for the truth of the Bible would be too easy and then all who are looking for a free ride would be jumping on the wagon.

When Jesus was taken up into heaven. He still had his body. The body of
a man.

Out of curiosity do you have a book, chapter and verse on that?

I'm genuinely curious because I'm thinking back to the Shroud of Turin and how it seems to show something that resembles radiation burns on it and, if the shroud is the genuine article, it lends to the theory that Jesus' body sort of vaporized in a flash from inside the tomb. As you'll probably recall, the wording in Scripture seems to support a scenario where the clothing and coverings were left completely undisturbed (as opposed to being stripped away)

Acts 1
The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and
teach, until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had by the
Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. To these He
also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs,
appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things
concerning the kingdom of God. Gathering them together, He commanded
them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised,
“Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but
you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it
at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It is
not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own
authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon
you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking
on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing
intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing
stood beside them. They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking
into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will
come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

Proof of a bodily resurrection: (Luke 24-33-43)

And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered
together the eleven and those who were with them, saying, “The Lord has
really risen and has appeared to Simon.” They began to relate their
experiences on the road and how He was recognized by them in the breaking
of the bread.

While they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst and
said to them, “Peace be to you.” But they were startled and frightened and
thought that they were seeing a spirit. And He said to them, “Why are you
troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See My hands and My feet,
that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones
as you see that I have.” And when He had said this, He showed them His
hands and His feet. While they still could not believe it because of their joy
and amazement, He said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They
gave Him a piece of a broiled fish; and He took it and ate it before them.

Concerning the Shroud of Turin: (John 20:3-8)

So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb.
The two were running together; and the other disciple ran ahead faster than
Peter and came to the tomb first; and stooping and looking in, he saw the
linen wrappings lying there; but he did not go in. And so Simon Peter also
came, following him, and entered the tomb; and he saw the linen wrappings
lying there, and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the
linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself. So the other disciple who
had first come to the tomb then also entered, and he saw and believed.

Maybe it was removed with care, like the face-cloth, because it does not say it
was not disturbed. Maybe, these were left for evidence for future generations.

Okay robby, the verse in question, John 1:1. How can you possibly, sanely, rationally say it, based on all the manuscript evidence available, can be translated into English to say "a god"?

Please don't parrot the Watch Tower. None of their translators are recognised as authentic by any Greek scholars I know of.
i have provided the reasons based on the Greek grammatical structure, i will not do so
again because you are too lazy to read through the thread.
