What is your opinion of the book? Does the book satisfy you with the mystery of the Grail, the last supper, etc. Is the book overrated? Do you think the movie will be successful as the book? Share your insights, the good and the bad aspects of the DaVinci code.

I believe that the book is an excellent story. A very fun read. Dont go into it expecting to find a new truth or anything else, for that matter. Read it as a good book of fiction and you will thoroughly enjoy it.
The movie, I predict, will be a good movie, but fall short of the book, just as every other book turned movie has done. Die hard fans of the book and Dan Brown will likely pick it apart.

Brown also says that the canonical gospels were chosen by Constantinople. THis is not true. He also asserts that the gospels were intended to denigrate Mary and reveal Jesus as divine- let me just say that the church must have chosen the wrong gospel. It is in fact the opposite. The Gnostics demonstrate Jesus as purely supernatural (Jesus causes whole villages to become blind and Jesus kills a child...LOL) while the canonical gospel describe Jesus as very human.
I believe the book does not meet the expectations of the great questions of History.Very commercial book.

There was no character development, the dialogues were utter crap and there was no hinting towards other possibilties of an outcome.
And besides all this *SPOILER AHEAD*
The epilogue destroys everything the writer builds up.
The main factor of the story being that it's only interesting because you don't know...
And then in the epilogue...he tells you.
It was pathetic.
As for the grail being the blood line of Jesus. Well, it could be true.
However...
I advice EVERYBODY to read "Foucault's Pendulum" by Umberto Eco.
It has one of the best endings ever written and it's roughly on the same subject.

I get fed up when people say it is a bad book, purely on the basis that it doesn't stand up under scrutiny, and it can't be true. They seem to think everything must either be complete fantasy, or completely truthful... it's nice to have something in-between occasionally!
