If any sane person reads the Old Testament, they will find evil that could match today's evil. The difference is......God is very much involved with this evil. Yet.......religion makes every effort to 'defend' God in the evil that takes place.....which only makes the discussion absurd.
Then......the 'New Testament' is somehow created. The evil 'God' is ...[text shortened]... ken place in the Old Testament. And.....they sound more deranged than the actual stories given.
Are you two brothers?

Let's see if I did this right....
Perhaps this book might help you....

Thankyou FMF, for acknowledging an effort to explain biblical slavery was made. For slavery in the Bible I recommend Dr. Paul Capon
Did God Sanction Slavery in the Old Testament ?
Excellent question and answer toward the end of the lecture.

Originally posted by Ghost of a DukeI do not speak Greek, I can read Koine Greek, very slowly and need to look at lot of the words up. I use an interlinear Bible which has a verse by verse Greek/english text so that the meaning becomes apparent. Yes I also eat olives.
Do you really speak Greek, or did you just once eat an olive?

I don't care what you say FMF, you are a bad troll, who tries to derail any thread.
My point and OP is valid. There seems to be nothing about the holy bible, that is in fact holy.
Are you going to troll? Or, will you contribute something valid? You were once a Christian, and now are not. Surely, if you believed in the bible, you would still be a Christian.
Don't be a troll FMF, please give something valid.
It is his example and teachings that make us Christians.

Katherine trapezed into a billabong to learn mathematically disastrous graphs.
How does that relate to the OT?
kathedra is a chair, as in a bishops seat from which we get Cathedral.
trapedza is a table but probably not trapezium shaped
Biblion is of course a book, from which we get Bible
mathetes is a student, the word now having been monopolised by mathematicians
didaskolos is a teacher from which we get didactic
grapho is writing from which we of course derive graph
If you add a few others cheir (hand), kalamos (pen), dexia cheir (right hand), aristera cheir (left hand) dyspepsia (indigestion) you get a set of words which contain all the letters of the Greek alphabet. You see its not very difficult and is probably on a par with learning something like Spanish which is way easier than French. Es importante para mi! 😀

Have been struggling with Japanese for a number of years. Would have difficulty debating the meaning of life with a native, but could quite confidently ask where the penguins were at a zoo.
