For what benefit is it for a person to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his life? There is no reason to risk burning in hell (because they think it's more important to help others than save themselves?)! Christians should not be as concerned with their own and others' well-being as they should be about their own and others' salvation. And talking about Christians is not the best way to argue the religion, it's talking about Christ. The goal of Christians should be to become more Christ-like, although there are many that claim to be Christian and have no such plan. And you can read in the Bible that Christ was concerned with others more than with himself, and he cared for others' well being and salvation.

The two are completely unrelated. I find it laughable that you condemn porn when there's a book of the bible (Song of Solomon) that's practically softcore porn.

Pornography can be either visual or literary.

But that might be news to you if after all this time you've only been looking at the pictures...

By stating that those who "do not believe in God" are better off "not existing", you are indeed condemning them, in the harshest fashion possible. But you do so only because you take the existence of an eternal hell as literally true. This in turn requires all sorts of problematic conclusions born out of that belief.

This is somewhat similar to the mindset that gripped the wife of Heinrich Himmler in Hitler's bunker shortly before her demise. She was so concerned about the prospect of her children living under a Bolshevik Russian regime, that she poisoned all of them instead. For her, "non-existence" for her children was preferable to the "hell" she was convinced awaited them. They never had a chance.

Just so, you would allow no chance to those who believe differently from you. That is the implicit mindset behind such fundamentalist reasoning.

A good post except it was Joseph Goebbel's wife, not Heinrich Himmler's, who poisoned her six children in the FuehrerBunker. Anyway, Darfius says dead kids go automatically to Heaven, so she was doing them as much of a favor as the Israelites who slit the Midianite kiddies' throats. So if any of you want to make sure your kids go to Heaven, you know what to do.

What I believe in says that people who don't accept Christ will go to the heart of the earth forever. It doesn't mean I want to kill everyone who doesn't agree with me or anything like that. Personally I'd much rather never exist in the first place then spend eternity in hell. I mean, how bad was it before you were born? Not so bad. In fact it was neither bad nor good, because you can't sense anything when you don't exist. And now you're accusing me of looking at porn!? I assure you I haven't looked at any (excluding the Song of Solomon 😉 since you consider that soft porn. This idea of literary porn is completely new to me.

ps can you quote the verses in the Bible that have "literary porn" in them? Thank you for your replies, I look foward to hearing from you again.

Would you consider a description of a drunk guy having sex with his daughters as being "pornographic"? Someone give him the Lot passage.

So, with a big enough backhoe, I could rescue my dead grandmother? Seriously though, when you think of Hell, how do you envision it?

You're right, Goebbels, not Himmler. The latter was off consorting with the Allies round about that time, if memory serves...
