I consider my beliefs strict when compared to what a majority of the world believes. A couple of examples would be, I don’t believe in watching rated ‘r’ movies or pornography. I don’t believe in playing any video games rated ‘mature’, I don’t believe in drinking alcohol, I don’t believe in smoking, I don’t believe in having sex before marriage, etc. By definition, I would be considered a fundamentalist due to the strict beliefs I hold. There is nothing, and I repeat; nothing wrong with the beliefs I hold. My beliefs are not going to bring me closer to becoming a terrorist or join any of the cults you pointed out in your post.
So what good can come from my ‘fundamentalist’ beliefs? Quite a bit actually. I also believe in helping others. A couple of examples would be years ago in Florida we had a couple Hurricanes hit hard down in Punta Gorda. Many of us ‘fundamentalists’ went down and helped the residents. The same thing happened in New Orleans. What happened then? Once again, many so-called ‘fundamentalists’ drove up from Florida to help. Many of these were kind-hearted people wanting to lend a helping hand. Many of which were part of an organized Church (organized religion) and by definition fundamentalists.
