    Because it says you're lost.

Because it says that without Christ you will suffer the penalty for your sins.

Because it's claims are exclusive and definitive.

Because it says you are separated from God by sin.

Because it exposes you for what you are without Christ.

    etc. etc. etc.

no because its apparently partially reasonable for producing people like you, who
cannot bring themselves to engage in a civil discussion about its contents, that's why.

Who hates the bible? It's a valuable primary historical source, why would anybody hate that?

Don't belittle yourself robbie. You can do much less if you put your mind to it and use just a bit less effort.

Why yes I can read thank you.

In your post you give several reasons why certain people might hate the bible, but you don't give any examples of people who actually profess to doing so. Have you encountered such?

I think taking a look at the last few pages of Thread 144344 might shed some light on josephw's high wheel-have-fallen-off dudgeon.

I detest some of the things in the bible, but only because certain people in today's world
view it as a literally true moral guide.
I don't hate the book itself.

As a historical document I certainly don't hate it, and some of the old hand written versions
made by the medieval monks are exquisite works of art.

Certainly none of the reasons stated in the op look like even vaguely plausible reasons why
I should dislike, let alone hate, the bible.

I gave five reasons why people do hate the Bible.

What does naming names have to do with the topic avalanch?

Can you stay on topic for even just one post?

He is on topic. He was just disputing your claim that those are reasons that people hate the bible.

So maybe a good question would be, "What makes you think people hate the bible for the reasons
    you stated?"

What evidence do you have that people A, hate the bible, and B, do it for those reasons?

Just trying to explain your... "If you want to play by those rules I'm game. I'll stuff your religion(which is hypocrisy)down your throat. [...] Sorry, but I'm just not nicer than Jesus. To be honest, I only have one other cheek to turn. After that I come out swinging"... type strop to fellow posters, that's all.
