You have been on a lucky streak in more recent times due to seeding but get found wanting come the finals 😛
1982 they qualified - went out unbeaten. 1994 they missed out - presumably that's what you mean by "etc".
Also interesting to note that "found wanting come the finals" generally still means "getting out of the group stage".
That must be irritating. Even when you were laughing at England's poor performance in the last World Cup, there's still the awareness that Scotland have never done even that well.

Per capita Scotland is and always will be streets ahead 😛
What I love about england playing decent sides is the floods that hit the nort of england shortly after the result is announced, caused by us all north of the border pi$$ing ourselves laughing :p

The scots were merely men coming from their farms etc... There were a good proportion of French, Scottish and Irish professional soldiers, but I'll grant you the majority of them were highland ...[text shortened]... ere wouldn't have been a battle at Culloden because they would have already been defeated.[/b]
English had soldiers as they were aggressors across the globe
All scots were happy to follow their clan leaders when they heard that their soli was being used by sassenachs
Scots the aggressor hundreds of miles north of the border - wake up your kin were the agressors and that is why they were on our soil
