The drops do cost you the game. They keep you out of rythym and if they were in rythym the Giants would have had to score more than they did which wasn't much ...[text shortened]... hotty GB defense was tired and demoralised because their offense couldn't generate anything.
The dropped passes were a factor, but even without them the Giants outplayed them. Plus dropped passes don't invalidate a win. Some receivers have stickier hands than others, it's a part of football.
Originally posted by no1marauder The Giants had 20 on the board at halftime. Again, what game were you watching?
20 is 17 points away from 37. They scored most of the 17 points in the latter part of the second half.
7 of the points in the first half came from a hail mary that should have never been caught and most likely wouldn't have against the Niners.
The Giants just exposed the Packers defense. In the playoffs records don't matter if you don't have defense you don't win and the Niners have a ten times better defense than the Giants.

In no way do they invalidate a win.... a win is a win is a win.
I guess we'll just have to watch the game... when the Niners win big you and I can lord it over No1.

The Giant defense stuffed the Packers while the Saints went wild on the Niners. In their last four games with the season on the line in every one, the Giant D has allowed a total of 50 points or 12.5 per game. Defending against the Rams, Cardinals and Seahawks twice a year does not a defense make.

Lol the Cardinals and the Seahawks were two of the best teams in the second half of the season. The Niners also beat the Lions (handing the lions their first loss and keeping that potent offense under 20), The Eagles (holding them to 23 when the Eagles were still healthy), the Giants and they completely smashed the Buccaneers (whom then beat the Saints in the next game).

"Went wild" on the Niners? lol Hyperbole much?
If one of the best offenses in NFL history "went wild" on anyone they wouldn't be walking away with a loss.

"Went wild" is hardly hyperbole.
32 points is far from the moon, and that's the only stat that matters. Racking big yards is little more than cool points when the defense is forcing turnovers.
If 32 points is "going wild" then the Niners offense must have went absolutely apesh**
No doubt the Giants played great D against a very strong offense. But while the Packers had one if the top offenses in the league this year, the Saints had one of the top in NFL history.

If points scored is the "only stats that matters", the Packers scored 13 more points during the regular season than the Saints.http://espn.go.com/nfl/standings
And the Saints averaged 27 PPG on the road and exceeded that against the 49ers. By contrast, the Pack averaged 40 PPG at home and scored half of that against Big Blue on Sunday.
Not even close which defense was more impressive last weekend.

GBs offense was exposed as one dimensional. Let's face it, they were a pass first, pass second, and pass some more team. The Chiefs exposed this... I think that this result would have happened against any of the better teams that made the playoffs even if GB didn't have so many drops.

The Packers played 3 games at home against teams that made the playoffs this year and averaged 45 points per game in three wins. Overall they played 5 games against playoff teams and scored 40 points per game. Last year, in case you forgot, they won the Super Bowl.
None of the "better teams" managed to "expose" them until last Sunday.

Saying the "only stat that matters" was a bit of hyperbole on my part, as unscoring yards do help defensively with field position.
BTW, I never tried to claim the Giants defensive performance wasn't better than the Niners last week. It most certainly was.
Now, are you going to credit the 49ers offense for going "even wilder!" on Saturday?
