In my opinion all tournaments should be banded and as you get better you are moved to the next level this would stop those who cheat to get a lower rating

Isn't that statement slightly contradictory ?
And I have always thought it was a good thing to learn something useful from every game. A player of your rating makes certain kinds of mistakes. They are quite easily identified and corrected. If you consciously decide not to improve your game then you should not complain, just play.

I am not complaining .I am just pointing out one of the reasons there are not more people playing in ,what should be the premium tournament of the year, the championship

How can you learn something from every game? I've done the fools mate at least twice I can probably learn from that the first time and I won them both times. Also I know a 13 move fried liver mate that I've done a handful of times so I don't think I really learned too much from that except for memory. 😉

Well, for one brief, bright and shining moment this morning, I was actually leading Group 56 with 12 points!

Reminds me of something said about running marathons: "Any time you're running in a marathon and feeling really good, don't worry - you'll get over it!"

I was leading grp 5 for all of a few days with 3 quick wins.

In pennance for this idle boasting I will no doubt finish bottom of my grp. 😳

for my first ever chess tournament I am quite enjoying it. Didn't expect 16 games but hey, I bought my subs, it's all good. 😀

One participant in our group (#56) shows as on "Vacation".

What does this mean? It does seem his timebank is still depleting.

The person can't be timed out right now and the timebank will still deplete. When the guy is on vacation when the timebank is empty he still can't be timed out until after the vacation.

Thought I'd wait until game was over until I posted it.

So, could I have gained a win? Got a bit repetitive at the end but felt opponment wanted to push king to h1, but this would have been the same, check, block, check, block.
