    I believe widget was treated very poorly by the fellow who took over his clan and booted him off of it. I believe widget should get re-instated as Clan Leader, then if he wants to pass it to someone trustworthy, that would be entirely up to him. I think before he turns it over though he should boot anyone he doesn't know or trust in my humble opinion.

    I am happy he got the boot from Breaking Bad as he was trying to steal the Clan from VESPIN (Michael) who put a lot of years into it and learned the ropes as he went. Michael did good to boot him when he did. He did manage to stop us from any chance at first place, personally I am happy to see him gone. lets all keep a watch out for him as he could return as a new 1200 player!!!

    EDIT: It was nice to see the players who left IVV after the booting of widget in his support, I do wish they re-join the Clan once he gets it back and decides what he is going to do from there.

    I remember warning our team in a mass message. But it's hard to understand it unless you are in the thick of it. The guy is NUTS he has to be. I warned every leader I played that would listen, and I posted in the forum along with Rusty, he also warned everyone and if truth be told, the leader of a certain team warned me first. I don't want to mention his name as I don't think he would want me to.

    But I did warn people. And several if not many people jumped on the bandwaggon and supported him. Calling Metallica and BB names. Well we don't cheat, we don't sandbag, and we don't support people like that.

    I feel horrible for Widget and all the players on that team. All good people, and they did not deserve that. The good news which we should focus on is that he is GONE FOR GOOD THANKS TO RUSS.

    I say we keep an eye out but move forward.

    They don't need him to have been convicted of anything to elevate the charges.

    "Falsifying business records is a misdemeanor, but the charge becomes a felony — punishable by up to four years in prison — if the records were falsified with the intent to commit or hide some other underlying crime."

    So my understanding is they just have to convince the jury that he intended to hide or commit another crime - state or federal. That's why they are trying to establish a conspiracy because there is a NY election law that mentions conspiracy.

    I think that Trump's defense is that he paid these people off to hide the stories from his family, not the public. But Cohen will testify that Trump told him this was to hide the stories from the electorate.

    What I keep hearing from republicans is that if trump wins, it’s a fair election and that if Biden wins, it is a rigged election.

    Considering their reaction to the 2020 election, I can safely say that the propaganda, should Biden win, will not olay out well.

    The change in atmosphere at tournaments from the late 60's to early 2020's
    (when I played) to today is very different.

    Speaking of the analysis room ...

    I took part in the U.S. Open in Atlantic City during the Fischer-Spassky match. The two top seeds in the U.S. Open that year were Walter Browne (the ultimate victor) and Bent Larsen. After the day's games had finished in Atlantic City, Larsen would give a short presentation with commentary on whatever game was currently running in Iceland (moves relayed via fax). Browne would relax playing blitz backgammon with someone. The rest of the boards were full up with people analyzing and chattering away, often with four players playing blitz bug-house. Watching the good players analyze was an education in itself.

    It is not necessary to show a prior conviction. What the prosecution has to show is intent to commit a further crime (such as tax fraud &/or campaign finance fraud) in having committed the first one (paying hush money and pretending it was a) a tax-deductible business expense and b) a campaign 'donation' ).

    A peaceful protest is completely protected by the 1st and 14th amendments. It is not terrorism.

    "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech... or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

    "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

    In contrast, the Jan 6th "demonstration" was NOT peaceful. It attempted to overthrow the lawful US government by stopping the transfer of power in order to install a usurper.

    The campus protestors have not tried to do anything of the kind.

    For the record, I support criminal prosecution of any and all corrupt politicians, regardless of party affiliation. From what I remember we spent a lot of time and money on the laptop and there was plenty of opportunity to prosecute crimes.
