I seem to re call the leader of Wycombe congratulating the winners metallica.
Great clan Wycombe play by the rules dont moan about points system. Thats the same for every clan..

But any clan who plays a well known cheat he even goes as far as admitting it in his profile is pure scum totally sad tossers who should be booted faster than you from a golf club.

Again total blinkered non sense.
We had gross points it only got changed to net after a campaign to stop metallica winning.
Easy riders tried a different approach...magayto resigning mass games to help easy riders...pathetic look what happened there...robbie banned from site...mcgayto banned from clans..

Low and behold the sad cheat gets a second chance only start cheating again.

Only a clan only rating will stop cheats from sand bagging. Russ has said that cant be done...

I did re-table this in the site announcements when Russ presented the votes on clan size.
I tend to think this may be a bit of work.
I involves the creation of a new index which means database changes.
Of course I could be off the mark a bit.
It's doable though.
Depends how much time and effort Russ has the appetite to put forth.

Isn't this already so in tournaments? One joins tournaments with a provisional rating, which stabilizes after 20 games or so. I don't see why this should not work for clan games as well. Presumably the code could be copy-pasted from the tournament database.

No.
There is one Rating; to calculate a TER from that is a Piece of cake.

With Clan Ratings either you lump all clans then you have one additional rating from clan games or you have one for each clan you are playing.
Even if you "just" have two ratings one General and one for Clans it would mean to add this parameter to each person and to check what rating is affected how each time a game ends.

Edit! after a short pause to think: since we do have a Rating for each Club to have a General Clan game Rating should be a Piece of cake and moonbus is right.

I don't entirely agree the 2nd proposal should be approached in the manner you suggest.

Yes, players do throw clan games as was obvious during the 2016 collusion fiasco.
The central figures in that fiasco were the very individuals accusing our clan of this infraction.

Clan games were being tossed. But not always for the reasons some would have you believe.

But if it does happen, I can give you a good reason why.
That is because of the maximum 3 challenge limit between any 2 clans.
Meaning you can not have more than 3 challenges in progress against any one clan at any time.
Why was this rule brought about ?
Because several clans conspired in 2016 to load up fake challenges with each other to benefit one clan.
This led to punishment the clans involved , a site ban for one clan leader and a suspension from clan play for another perpetrator.

The rest is the clan community is stuck with the new rules.
Every clan leader knows how much harder it is to set challenges.
Yet we all adapt.

I as a new clan leader am sitting on a bunch of challenges that we have already won.
I don't tell my people to toss games they have won.
I have my own personal policy for this situation.
If I am winning a game, I will play it out.
I will speed it up as much as possible.
Is a game is even, I will offer my opponent a draw.
If I am losing a game, I will resign.
There is no rating manipulation. I am resigning a game I am losing anyways.
A caveat, if is is Dec 31st and I am in a situation where I need to end a game to cash in won challenge points to win a clan title, I will cash in the points.
I will NOT apologize for that. It is team play. Period !!

One final comment. I do not believe is is easy to manipulate one's rating using clan games alone.
This is because if your rating goes down because you resign one game, it means you get an easier opponent next clan game.
When you win that game, your rating goes back to where it was before you resigned the first game.
Rating manipulation works best for those who want to cheat the system by using non-clan games.

That's why a separate clan rating will make it difficult to manipulate your clan rating.

All this being said, I maintain that clan games were tossed, not because someone wanted to sandbag their rating.
They were tossed because some clans were handing points to opposing clans.
Site administration understood that and acted accordingly.
