@kevcvs57 saidSo you are accepting of a conspiracy theory?
Worth pointing out that their families were butchered alongside them.
My guess would be It’s either a case of the Russian mafia had some reason to make an example of them or Putin did. The fact that their wives and daughters were also butchered leans me toward this being a stark message for an audience of oligarchs.
Is that only because they are Russian oligarchs?
You do realize they are being ruled murder suicides, right? If 2 American oligarchs died in the same way would you be equally accepting of a conspiracy theory behind their deaths?

@mchill saidZelensky’s top financial backer is the Ukrainian Jewish oligarch Igor Kolomoisky, has been a key benefactor of the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion and other extremists militias.
Either way works for me. These people were thieves who used their positions of power to steal billions from the Russian people. This money should have been used for pressing domestic needs.
Igor Kolomoisky is an oligarch. Do you hope he dies too or are there good oligarchs as well as bad oligarchs?

"Investigators said in their statement that they believe Avayev shot his wife and daughter, and then himself."
Ruled or not they are leaning in that direction.

@metal-brain said(Shrug) From the facts we know so far, that is the most likely explanation.

"All three had been shot with Mr Avayev’s own pistol, which Anastasia, 26, told officers had been in her father’s hand when she found the bodies."
"In total, 13 weapons were discovered in the £2million flat, which was locked from the inside, Anastasia said."

@no1marauder saidWhy would this happen twice though? Do Russia Oligarchs have a tendency to murder their families and then kill themselves?
(Shrug) From the facts we know so far, that is the most likely explanation.
@no1marauder saidI'm not claiming nobody murders their family before suicide, but wealthy men are not prime suspects in that sort of thing. Add to that no motive.

As much as I like to rail on other people's hypocrisy, I think these oligarchs were murdered. Remember this:

"One theory suggests Mr Avayev became enraged after discovering his wife was five months pregnant by her husband's driver - but there are conflicting reports about whether or not she was expecting a baby."
Jealous husbands killing (possibly) unfaithful wives isn't extraordinarily abnormal.
@athousandyoung saidWell, Russian "oligarchs" seems a pretty loose description possibly fitting many individuals.
Why would this happen twice though? Do Russia Oligarchs have a tendency to murder their families and then kill themselves?
These are two murders thousands of miles apart. Sometimes coincidences happen; I don't know about the one in Spain, but unless there's something seriously wrong with the report in the article I cited it's hard to see how it could be a murder by anyone but Avayev (who then killed himself).

@no1marauder saidWasn't his daughter killed too?

Safra was murdered. Probably by Russians.
Why is there so very little news coverage about this here in the USA though? You would think the powers that be would want to shed light on Russian foul play. Does the Russian news media cover this much? Are these oligarchs supporters of Putin? These are questions I don't have answers to, but why is nobody else curious about it?
I don't think Epstein and Brunel killed themselves and a lot of people agree with me, but they were imprisoned. They had reasons to be depressed and perhaps be suicidal. Rich people have options. They can leave their wives and get another. They also do not have to kill their offspring who did nothing to offend.

His bodyguard/nurse admitted he started the fire that killed Safra. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Maher
He was convicted of arson in Monaco and did 8 years in jail.
People in jealous rages do things they normally wouldn't do like say killing members of their family and themselves. All 3 were shot with Avayev's own gun in a room locked from inside. Witnesses heard screams and gunshots but didn't see furtive assassins jumping out windows.
