@Metal-Brain saidlolwut?
You have been defending an oligarchy for years. Big pharma.
Will you admit big pharma is an oligarchy? You can't do it, can you?
Fauci said he is science. Science needs a pre emptive pardon? Junk science does. Fauci is the head of the oligarchy snake. He lied to you for years.

You cannot even admit he lied, let alone admit he was the head of an oligarchy.
Oh, rumble.
You might wanna clean your mouth out a bit before you kiss your mother, though.

Do you know the origin of the term "right wing" and "left wing"?
True, there's a corporatist wing of the Democratic Party but even they don't kiss the posterior of the wealthy like the Republicans have for a 100 years or so.
"Major corporations, including tech giants like Amazon, Meta, Google and Microsoft, as well as auto manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies, have increased their donations, some more than tripling their contributions from previous inaugurations.
The surge in donations reflects a change in corporate America's view of Trump, moving from initial skepticism to a desire to curry favor with the unpredictable but influential figure.
Companies are more transparent in announcing their donations, signaling a shift in attitude towards Trump compared to his first inauguration and the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection."
The record-breaking fundraising underscores a broader trend of corporations hedging their bets in a polarized political landscape, with businesses seeking influence and access in the new administration.

At least they are being transparent seeking influence and access in the new administration.
Right?

@wildgrass saidThe money is not made available 'for an oligarch to enrich himself'. Please rewrite this sentence in proper context, while the oligarchs company manufactures stuff like crazy (like your new Vespa and your wife's golf club that never misses). If money is made available from a government...
Forgot to write taxpayer funds. The taxpayer funds should NOT be made available from an oligarch to enrich him/herself. You spend four years railing on the libbies for spending money, and then praise the heavens that the new administration comes out with a huuuuge spending agenda, gives $100 billion in taxes to three individuals who are already billionaires to build more data centers.
Oh, and to build data centers, for god sakes. So, who is going to build data centers so that your tech-savy son can center himself there to advance his creativity so that he, too, can be successful like the oligarch, and kick Chinese Butt! See, this is another problem, you kids just do not see it. You are not competitive, you are complacent. I bet Shav (20/hr work week) would feel as you do, who needs data centers, " I am not using my tax money to advance technology!!!!! Now, where did I put my IPhone!?!?"
No data centers. 😕
Edit: Please, a nice response? Like, where will the data centers come from, and why do you care if people get rich from their 'projects'?
@MartinS saidSo here is Martin, who curiously hides his country, a country which I am sure would be shytte-out-of-luck if our country kept our stuff at home. You see, little feller, every country needs the United States of America. You, and even the most liberal of our members here, know that, but would never admit it.
I do feel sorry for you Americans
You have a lunatic as President and two lunatic space billionaires who want to rule the planet
If you kept your garbage politics at home then great; but you are going to f#@% the world for the rest of us.
I thought Americans where intelligent; now I know they are lesser than the people that originally inhabited that land
Pity that shot missed
God help us all
Pitiful to write a post slamming a country, without listing his country. I would venture that the USA does not need his country.
Allow me to slam his country. I bet we have more choices in our country than you do. As a matter of fact, I am sure that we do.
@Metal-Brain saidHey, what if aszazzin had been successful? Think for a moment if the dem (the housekeeper with no brains, with fake empathy) were president now. Just imagine. Imagine. USA would drop below that Martin fellow's country, just above. No more money for oligarchs to build our country!!! We would all be 'in the same place at the end of the day'!! Me and Shav, in the same place!!! Help me Rhonda!
We voted for Trump because the secret service conspired to assassinate Trump. That is why we knew he was right for a second term. Were you rooting for endless wars?

Sure, oligarchs have companies, but those companies rely on government corruption for profit.
I don't know what you're talking about. Are you using a different definition?
Without govt corruption, oligarchs would be capitalists. They would still be rich beyond wildest dreams, just not quite as rich.
@wildgrass saidYou mean you want my def of ‘government corruption’? I have no idea how our government can be corrupt. Now, some PEOPLE in govt can be corrupt. You will have to elaborate just a tad, but please not like Sonhouse does!

@AverageJoe1 saidOligarchs are corrupt by definition. This term goes back at least to Aristotle.

@wildgrass saida very rich business leader with a great deal of political influence (particularly with reference to individuals who benefited from the privatization of state-run industries after the collapse of the Soviet Union).
Oligarchs are corrupt by definition. This term goes back at least to Aristotle.
"it seems more than a coincidence that former employees, advisors, and allies of the billionaire oligarch have been parachuted into such positions"
This does not mention that they are corrupt. I read, and gave a book review,, on "Red Notice", a fantastic story of a Wall Street investor who went to Russia in the mid-nineties, and did the SAME THING that the rich ruskies were doing, all within the Russian law. A great book, all true. His, and their, amassing of money was totally legal, not corrupt...that is, it was not a dishonest practice, dishonesty being a key element of corrupt.
So, we are back to Point A? We have people who acquire money by legal means and make it grow. In that process, their investments grow our country, create jobs. Note that the money derived from govt through govt programs is regulated, and it use and expenditures is approved and controlled by the government.
They do not take the money and buy a yacht. You are going to confuse Sue!!
Resolution: Our oligarchs are good oligarchs. Do you think that Musk can get us to Mars.....Before China??!!?!
