I guess one could suggest the US is gearing up for war.
But, it seems to me, that there are two major issues about this:

1. trump is too invompetent to start anything. He’s paranoid, narcisstic and a complete retard. He reacts to situations, he cannot create them.

2. The administration is so focussed on the enemy within, why the hell would they start a war with Venezuela? I mean, they’ve already got protagonists on the ground there, warping reality.

And so what you see, is trump acting tough, illegally blowing boats out the water, and his administration calculating that the war ons drugs will sell more tickets than the illegal destruction of foreign vessels.
