The development is constantly moving forward. I bet in ten to twenty
years we can remodel ourselves completely without it being visible. Not
that I encourage that for vanity reasons, because vanity is such an
unfruitful pursuit in life (with everyone having their own taste), but I think
it's great for reconstructive purposes after accidents and the like.
Then again, you could argue that appearances are very important in
our social interactions. If we look "good" it's easier to get ahead in our
careers and what not than if we have physical imperfections. However, a
physical imperfection can be precisely what makes us unique, and it that
sense make us look good. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that
those poor women, born with barbie doll looks, may now have to struggle
to be taken seriously because everyone else will automatically assume
that they've had operations to get that look, and that makes them look
"bad". Of course, barbie looking women always had to struggle to be
taken seriously. Somehow they're less threatening to the rest of us if
all they really have is their looks. I'm equally ashamed everytime I say
that, because I know it's true.
If this last paragraph made any sense to anyone else, please tell me,
'cause I'm not sure I understood it myself. I think I managed to be a
male chauvinist, feminist and brainchild all at once. Don't know how I did
it, but it seemed logical writing it. 😕

To me breast implants just look horrible and very unappealing even when they are supposed to look "right".
