Agreed there are some negative stories re: cannabis use, as there also are many re: alcohol use.

That said, some MS sufferers have claimed that THC has helped them either deal with leg spasms associated with the condition, or as am alternative source of pain relief.

Sure, there is nothing wrong with the controlled use of cannabis, prescribed by a doctor as a medicine. All medicines have side effects. It is up to a professional doctor to calculate the acceptable risks in all legal drug/medicine use.

Does that mean we should have alcohol, nicotine and caffeine issued in prescribed amounts by the health service?

No not at all.

No, I haven't noticed anything alarming. If you are functioning in a way that you find acceptable and agreable up to a certain level, there's nothing wrong. However if you have doubts or worries about that I suggest you go and see a professional, a doctor, a therapist, a psychologist or a shrink.

In which case, for once I feel we do not disagree. Your concern is also heartwarming 🙂

"Cannabis is not risk free,"

"the destructive link between cannabis and schizophrenia"

The government says it will review all academic and clinical studies linking cannabis use to mental health problems.
The Department of Health says it is now generally agreed among doctors that cannabis is an "important causal factor" in mental illness.

Most medical experts agree that smoking cannabis in itself does not cause mental illness...

We have known for years that using cannabis makes the symptoms of schizophrenia far worse in people who already have the illness.

There is a larger proportion of people with mental health problems who claim cannabis reduces their symptoms than those for whom it is a problem

Campaigner Terry Hammond says his son, Steve, developed schizophrenia after taking cannabis resin.

Wow. I know a girl who developed schitzophrenia after drinking a Coke! And a woman who developed schitzophrenia after getting married.

I also know grandmasters use it, but certainly not before or during serious games.

I dont know if they use it before or during games but I dont think this will have a negative effect on their chess. Some poeple like myself play better under the stress of an important otb game but I can imagine others will need something againts the stress...
