We keep tax records about 3-7 years, but nobody really knows how long is required. "Keep records indefinitely if you file a fraudulent return." is one of the most bizarre statements on the IRS "How long should I keep records?" topic.
So most people are not going to be able to prove they worked at a fast food job in the 1980's.

*to my knowledge this is the only connection I have ever had to UNH. I've never been there, and have no idea why they were paying me. I lived and went to school in North Carolina.
