Lab Leak Most Likely Origin of Covid-19 Pandemic, Energy Department Now Says

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.

The shift by the Energy Department, which previously was undecided on how the virus emerged, is noted in an update to a 2021 document by Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines’s office.

And Fauci used taxpayer money to fund the gain of function research that made it possible.

Can anybody think of a good reason why gain of function to a virus should even be carried out?

Aliens, relax. The homo sapiens will destroy themselves yet.

@Earl-of-Trumps

In my opinion...

Gain of function is so the other guys won't get ahead in the game of bio weapons.

It could also lead to findings that may help cure other diseases...

That's all that I can think of but they are definitely playing with fire.

Anyone remember all the idiots on this forum saying it wasn't China?

two good opinions, but of course, bio-weapons means more to the d-heads in Washington than curing disease.

Same with China, so it's a bio arms race.

I'd rather everyone working on it than just some.

Yes, I can think of lots of good reasons. But allowing it to escape was actionable negligence (although I'm not if we can really do anything about it politically).

As for GoF research, maybe we figure out one day how to breed viruses to go in and attack only cancerous cells. You never know what applied science can be developed once you understand the nature of a tool.

Your source doesn’t say anything about “gain of function”. Where are you getting that phrase from?

The US energy department has concluded something about virusses.

I am not even going to continue down your little rabbit hole.

I’m pretty sure the Tea party concluded we’re being ruled over by baby eating lizard people from Mars too…

I think the clues in the name, given that these diseases are probably going to cross species barriers at some point it makes sense to study them in a contained environment.
The fact that the containment procedures failed is an argument for better regulated facilities not the end of research.
Do you think that if Fauci / CDC hadn’t part financed this research that it wouldn’t have happened?

What makes the Energy Department a competent investigator of the origins of a disease?
