The biggest failure of the Democrats was to prove that Trump was guilty of insurrection that day. They had four years to pursue that case. He was the ringleader, given his comments at the Ellipse that morning. IF Democrats HAD proved it and charged him, then the Supreme Court would have had no choice but to declare him ineligible to run again via the 14th Amendment.
