I think she's saying that what these conservatives claim are "lost freedoms" actually aren't; like whining that not being able to get your favorite brand of coffee is "freedom" being taken away.
Then I would agree with Suzianne . Socialism would naturally bring on a society that would have lesser choices. Is that not a given? And I might say lesser choices in every aspect of our lives. Go Suzianne

"Some people cannot afford housing, either. Is that next? "
Yes, it should be. Not just because it's the bloody humane thing to do but also because it's cheaper to just house everyone instead of keeping them homeless because you americans have a hard on for human suffering.

"And food? "
Yes, food as well.

Look, we know full well you can't comprehend the notion o ...[text shortened]... art selfish ashole and see how these measures are actually good for you rather than the alternative.
Free Housing, Free Food. By Zahlanzi. There simply must be something else, maybe car insurance??? And you may have missed my post above, most good people like me support charities big-time. I am on TWO boards for underprivileged children, if I may say.
Should someone who Works Really hard come home for supper and find a bill from the government, demanding contribution to the support and lifestyle** of a person who does NOT work hard? Because that is what you are saying. Like most libs, you do not think things through, you consider nothing past saying "Free stuff for those who cannot afford it". Marx all the way, Creepy. Where does Marxism work,, can you at least tell us that?!? haha
If I stop working tomorrow, and my savings are spent, you are saying I should be able to petition the govt to take care of my ass? And my neighbor next door, in effect, would be paying for it??? Weak stuff, Zahlanzi. Unless, of course, you an tell us how the program would be structured....So that the strong in this society can remain strong. Don't you think we need these folks?
And comment all you want about selfish people, but I am a grad of the school of Ayn Rand. Note that there are many unfilled jobs today in at the USA and no one is going for them. Zahlanzi, as czar of free stuff,, how are you going to pick and choose who gets the free home? It could e ME! I just gave all my money to my kids, and need a home....and food....and healthcare....FREE.
And I wonder sometimes why I am on this site! Great entertainment, my coffee buddies on saturday AM will love your post. 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔

** above) 'lifestyle'...Yeah, with all the free stuff, there will be time for frisbee in the park. Nice lifestyle comes with free stuff.

to eat or to buy insulin or to pay rent or to get that anual checkup you've been putting up for 5 years now.

americans are so damn free. the envy of the world. so many choices

whereas a canadian is... not free? how isn't a canadian free?
They arenot free to get a knee replacement when they want it. In the US they could get it in about 10 days or less.
I love this country. Hey, I was in a Publix and saw about 300 different varieties of cereal! It was so overwhelming that I just bought a loaf of bread and walked out, just too many choices!! Ok 👍

Lesser choices such as? If it's a "given", surely you can name some?

Envy of the world? It seems we are, given all the facts. Even the Mexicans that are coming in here to a country of white supremacy still want to be here.. Mick Jagger came here for a heart operation. Do you know that aresponsible independent foreigner could find this country to be the most optimum country in the world. Or they could go for the parasitic mode and move to the little countries where Denmark and Sweden and all those places are. The foreigner could get lost in the collective society. Frankly that would appeal to some people. But not to many stalwart Americans. I love this country

@AverageJoe1

When the people from Guatemala and other Central American countries, Cuba, Venezuela, emigrate, where do they go??

No. 1 choice, USA.

Listening to the Liberal Liars in here, you would swear that the amount of racism in America against Spanish speaking
Brown people would be a big deterrent in their emigrating to America. Read it again, Libs: __ No. 1 choice, USA.

Name some what? Countries? The different types of cereals, different choices?
So, Venezuela......let's see...
Oh never mind, everybody already knows the lack of EVERYTHING in that particular country.
I always get chided for not knowing squat about socialism, or which countries have Socialism, so let me know a country and I will google if they have every variety of cereal that one could want.

@Zahlanzi
They don't like the idea of free medical help. If people can't pay for meds, that is just FINE with republicans, since if they can't pay for meds, they MUST be dems.

Repubs will and HAVE done ANYTHING possible to make the defeated Trump POTUS again.

They can't STAND the idea that another POTUS has done SO much better a job at getting people shots in arms.

They WANT a million C19 deaths so they can PROVE Biden is a criminal.

Slow down, I need to write all those comments in my journal.

You are wrong.

Capitalism coughs forth less choice. As corner shops vanish and supermarkets appear and as specialist shops disappear and everyone buys from Amazon.

Socialism does nothing to choice but make sure people are paid decently for their labour and that basic human rights are met (housing, education, healthcare, basic food for kids, utilities).

Cereal?
You mean healthy foods or that sugary junk you shove down your fat American gobs every day?

Which countries do you consider socialist?
I hear a lot of Americans on Fox claim that Europe is socialist.
Well, come to France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany... and tell us how our “socialism” has diminished our choices and freedoms.

I’m off the whole of August, so feel free to pop by in the first two weeks (after that, pandemic pending, I’ll be on the Cote d’Azure, roasting my arse by the smells of fried dorade and garlic) and we’ll discuss it in person.

I’m sure I’ll be able to cater for all your cereal needs.

"There simply must be something else, maybe car insurance???"
No, car insurance should be private. Try again

"And you may have missed my post above, most good people like me support charities big-time."
You're not good people. Let's get that thing straight. Secondly, the charity of the citizens is no way to run a country. Sure, be charitable to others. But people shouldn't go on GoFundMe and cry for strangers to help them afford a life saving medical procedure.

"I am on TWO boards for underprivileged children, if I may say."
You're lying.

" Should someone who Works Really hard come home for supper and find a bill from the government, demanding contribution to the support and lifestyle** of a person who does NOT work hard?"
The fact that you think people who cannot afford healthcare in the US are automatically not working hard proves you're not good people.

" Like most libs, you do not think things through, you consider nothing past saying "Free stuff for those who cannot afford it". Marx all the way"
No, just taxation. Every country does it. What most countries don't do however is spend so much on a bloated military, start wars in various places and give tax cuts and allow tax loopholes for the richest 1%. A simple 1% wealth tax on billionaires (not even millionaires) would pay for all kinds of things to help everyone.

" If I stop working tomorrow, and my savings are spent, you are saying I should be able to petition the govt to take care of my ass?"
Depends on the circumstance. But yes, one lazy ashole shouldn't mean the majority of people who lost their job through no fault of their own don't get the help they need. And having worked for various lengths of time and paying taxes along the way, DESERVE.

"Unless, of course, you an tell us how the program would be structured....So that the strong in this society can remain strong. Don't you think we need these folks?"
You know how many billionaires will starve, or go bankrupt or explode spontaneously if we implement a 1% wealth tax?

" And comment all you want about selfish people, but I am a grad of the school of Ayn Rand. "
You and various ignorant college students who want to be edgy.
Ayn Rand was on government assistance, did you know that? A little tidbit of information you obviously don't know.

"Note that there are many unfilled jobs today in at the USA and no one is going for them."
A job in Kansas means little to an unemployed New Yorker. It takes money to move across the country. A job in mining means little to a guy whose profession is car mechanic, it takes money to change your profession. A job in Alabama for a husband would maybe mean the wife loses HER job when they move. Then they will still be with only one income in the family and in fukin Alabama.
So, "weak stuff", Joe, try again.

"Zahlanzi, as czar of free stuff,, how are you going to pick and choose who gets the free home?"
Everybody should have basic housing. If you don't own a house and you are comfortable living in government housing, you should be elligible.

Despite what Fox News tells your gullible ass, people don't WANT to be on welfare. People would much rather work. No millionaire would move his family into government housing and take advantage of paper thin walls in who knows what neighbourhood and thus mooch on the taxpayer.

A homeless guy living under a bridge though? Have just enough help to start putting his life together? That would be of real help.

"Yeah, with all the free stuff, there will be time for frisbee in the park. Nice lifestyle comes with free stuff."
Yes, people shouldn't be forced to work 16 hours a day just to afford to live. Everybody should have time for frisbee in the park. You accidentally made a good point while trying to be sarcastic.

So you can't actually name any of these "lesser choices" you claim socialism brings.

Thought so.

"They arenot free to get a knee replacement when they want it. In the US they could get it in about 10 days or less."
If you have money 😀
Any citizen of a civilized country that has universal healthcare in some form or another can get any medical procedure they want if they had money.

"Hey, I was in a Publix and saw about 300 different varieties of cereal!"
So does Romania. Try to gauge the success of a nation less by how many kinds of cereal they stock the shelves of the superkmarket with.

"It was so overwhelming that I just bought a loaf of bread and walked out, just too many choices!"
In other words, too much information scares you and you just give up and go with what you've already known. It's starting to make sense why you are such an ignorant clown here.

No no, you're cheating. You're not supposed to mention successful countries that have socialist programs. You can only bring up Venezuela.
