Sure it is metaphorically. Both groups are (hopefully) "fighting" for a better world. Together as comrades.
Well, hell, you can use almost any word metaphorically. But that doesn’t make every use of the word equivalent.

Soldiers are “comrades in arms” because they literally serve and fight together. When politicians or political activists call one another “comrade ,” the word is being used toexpress political solidarity. Those are two different contexts and two different connotations. Different marauder

My point was never that the word “comrade” is forbidden outside communism. It was that I found its it’s deliberate use in a political setting noteworthy. If context didn’t mattter, we could call everyone “comrades” and then explain away the meaning afterward as merely metaphorical.
What a joke. You are running out of straws.

All you are doing is proving my point.

In a stupid, babbling way, but still. People involved in a political movement regard themselves as serving and fighting together so the use of the term is appropriate. Originally equivalent terms were used by leftists in Europe during the 1800s, so it has a fairly long history.

Hey Comrade. (Puke. Why is that so sickening, hammer and sickle, workers and peasants)

You proving my point while congratulating yourself for proving yours

I never said political movements can’t use the word “comrade. Of course they can And by pointing out its history among European leftists, you’ve actually reinforced why I found its use noteworthy

“Comrades in arms” isn’t quite the counterexample you think it is, fool. That’s a conventional military expression. Using “comrade” as a political term carries a different historical baggage, and that baggage is precisely what caught my attention

I understand the metaphor perfectly wel I simply don’t share your view that its historical and political connotations are irrelevant. You are grasping. They are relevant.

And calling my argument “stupid” and “babbling” doesn’t make it wrong…. It just avoids having to address the point

Give it up. Imagine when you get with those people every Tuesday Knight in that empty building downtown to meet, referring to each other as comrade……. How squeamily contrived you would feel saying that word. Because, you are.
Write MB for a while. And referr to him in your post as comrade to make it interesting. Hell we may have to get a feel for it if you prevail.

and you 'fighting ' culture warriors, i would like to see the real you if confronted with someone that is just not like you, to put it plainly.

I find you yourself to be of another culure, and yes, I would not like to be confronted with you. In my face, don't you know? Sociallists and communists have one thing in common which is to control the populace, by power or by vote. We, we aint like that. We are to busy getting up a rich country to worry about your cultures, could you please just get out of our way?

Because yours fall flat.
I need your advise. I am going to ask marauder to come to Thanksgiving dinner with my family. He’s gonna have a friend with him. I am worried that he will refer to his friend as his comrade. Actually, I am quite sure that he will.
What would be your take on that sitting at the dinner table with my family and my children?
Well to start with I would, graciously, thank you for the invitation, but respectively decline. No need for any kind of opposing discourse at a family gathering thanking, who(m)ever for our “blessings”.
