@shavixmir saidWho said anything about 'change'? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Basically, one is about self reliance, and one is about dependence. Let us all have a board meeting and determine which of the two is most virtuous. Self Reliance (capitalism) has been human nature for 10,000, maybe 200,000, years. Along came socialists and want people to be dependent, leading to vice as opposed to virtue. Wars started happening, mainly people who had stuff having to beat back people who 'evolved' , as you say, into socialists, getting other peoples' stuff,
Well, uh… that is socialism/ communism.
You seem to think that socialism is an alternative to capitalism. It’s not. It’s an evolution.
Not everything capitalist is bad. And lasting
Change doesn’t come in revolutions, but by trial and error.
So how has that been going for you? Would you rather your children grow up self-reliant, or loser dependents?
@AverageJoe1 saidQuality roads.
An interesting statement. I cannot think of one. Could you slyly be thinking of that old 'free housing' thing? Free car insurance, free food? Free money with which to gamble?
All silly, of course, but come up with one thing that would qualify for everyone in a city to pitch in and pay for the benefit of a community. I will say City Park, with children playground ...[text shortened]... ransportation? But I don't have children , and I don't ever ride a bus. What is one you would like?
Some people don’t use them, but they are nice to have.
Working sewers… pretty damned good.
Healthy forests… yeah, I don’t walk around in forests (everything living bites me), but hey… lots of other people do.
Air traffic control… not everyone flies.
Free museums. Not everyone goes to a museum (although they bloody well should),.. but good to have.
Need I continue?
Free swimming lessons. Not everyone wants to swim, but some American tourists do fall into the Amsterdam canals…
More? Or do you get the picture?
The post that was quoted here has been removedBuy low, sell high. So when do you think it started? I may have been a bit extreme with 200k, no one could prob talk then, which one would have to be able to do to make a deal. You know what a deal is,,,,right? Buyany book about Trump.
I quite disagree that a village would raise someone’s child. Whoever said that. Sounds silly. What does that mean exactly?

You are wrong about the road, everyone profits from roads. If I do not have a car, I still count on that road to carry an ambulance to save my life. Or a fire truck to put out my fire. You liberals are a mess.
Yeah, sewers, forests, Mount Rushmore.
Yeah, not everyone flies, but a lot of of us are on the ground, hoping that no plane crashes into the middle of our city or that some plane does crash and kill some of our loved ones. So we gladly need to share the cost of traffic control and just the same way that we share the cost of the food and drug administration. I don’t take drugs, perfect health. But wait, I need FDA in case I get Covid!!!! We should share FDA. Whew
I am not so sure about free museums, just like I am not so sure about PBS. They should support themselves. People should buy a ticket to walk into a wonderful museum. Tell the Swedes to let everyone in to The Vasa for free!
No free swimming lessons. Do I get free golf or guitar lessons? Do you think your champion dart player down at the pub will start giving dark lessons for free. Would you?
Nice try
@AverageJoe1 saidhow about the public libraries even though you don't read. some do want to educate themselves. not you though.

stay bimbo, sweetheart
@Mott-The-Hoople saidyep, having public libraries leads to people starving in a country where republicans control the congress, senate, presidency, the supreme court and all federal agencies.
A bunch of folks finding out right now what depending on the govt will get you…starvation
you can go join joe in the dumb pile
@AverageJoe1 saidYeah, swimming is actually a basic life-saver. Hence it should be freely available and paid by the community.

In Britain all the museums are indeed free.
In the Netherlands they are expensive, but you can buy a year card for 60 euros which gives you “free” entry to most museums.
Museums broaden the way people think. Like education.

It’s an African sentiment (I think, although I have heard it used in connection with Kibbutzniks as well).
Basically, you have parents. Teachers. Doctors. Police. Lollypop people (for helping the young to cross roads). Etc.
Neughbours looking out for people, babysitters… the list is endless.
So, it’s the whole community which carries a degree of responsibility in raising a child.

@shavixmir saidUhhh, like swimming, food is a life saver, too. So, your stupid logic would dictate that your socialist government would provide food for everyone.

You now see the weakness of your arguments. So, we will pick and choose what should be provided by the socialist government???
Answer by telling us, the uninformed, just exactly why your perfect society would not provide food? It is life saving, school is educational, clothing is needed in the winter months, medicine should be given to anyone who says they have a headache, and if a girl (voluntarily except for rape) gets pregnant and changes her mind, your government will provide an abortion doctor....for free, .....if she changes her mind. Don't want our parasites to be unhappy.
Free food? Why not, Shavixmir? It is certainly more important than entering a museum.
@Zahlanzi saidRight, they read and educate themselves. Feeds the brain. A community service. Libraries should be free.

Should food be free? Feeds the body.
Shavixmir? Bring it.
@shavixmir saidIdiot post. It makes no sense, if my child gets sick, I pay the doctor to medicate and heal the child. If I have insurance, the insurance company pays the doctor. I paid the insurance company a premium.

I pay taxes for the 'village' to provide an environment for ME to raise MY child.
Hey, Shav, I live amongst a lot of Muslims in Minnesota, (not really Suzianne) and they are prevalent in the 'village' I live in. Uhhhhhhhh, they have absolutely NOTHING to do with raising my christian USA culture child.
Whew. You would do better to start posting about epstein with sonhouse. Jesus
@AverageJoe1 saidYes, European countries supply food. And so does yours. When people can't afford food, you feed them.

When you live in a country full of canals, you teach them to swim.
If someone lives in a desert, then you don't teach them to swim on the tax-payers expenses, but you teach them... I dunno... how to milk dromedaries, find water... or something...
You seem to be pretty hung up about a lot of things Joe.
Perhaps in the US you should be handing out free bullet proof vests to school kids or something.
The fact of the matter is, is that a lot of good things comes from socialism/ communism. And all you can squeal about is some upgrade to your plane fare to Jamaica...
Cool...
@AverageJoe1 saidYou don't have to agree with the sentiment.

But, if you're paying a babysitter... the babysitter is still part of the nurturing of the child...
