Senate Democrats failed to advance a bipartisan border security bill Thursday, with nearly every Republican voting to filibuster it as Donald Trump wields border chaos as a centerpiece of his campaign against President Joe Biden.

The Biden-backed compromise bill was crafted to reduce border crossings, raise the standard for migrants to qualify for asylum and empower officials to rapidly send away those who fail to meet that standard. Let's recap:

- Trump diverted funds from FEMA to build a wall that never got built
- Republicans blocked a bill to reduced migrant crossings so say they can attack Biden for migrant crossings
- Republicans voted against funding FEMA only days before this disaster while no Dems blocks it

Wrong.

The border bill that Republicans blocked would've allowed Biden more power to prevent entry and deport migrants. That means that Biden must now has to deal with more migrants than he would've otherwise, which costs money. That's on top of Republicans blocking funding for FEMA.

If Republicans keep screaming there's a crisis, why block a bill aimed to stop it? It's because they don't care about the border it's just a talking point to use in elections.
