@vivify saidA car that can travel 'a few miles' is not a practical vehicle.
The article clearly says it can power the car for a few miles.
Honestly, at least make this a challenge.
There's not enough sun in a car size area to power a practical car.
If you relied solely on solar power to drive your Tesla car allow a week to get to work.
@wajoma saidTesla doesn't only use solar power: they also use charging stations, which Tesla has made its goal to be 100 percent renewable.

Like I said earlier in this thread: as demand for solar powered cars increases, the ability of these cars will increase.
This is the future of electric/solar powered cars: vehicles fueled by 100 percent renewable energy, with as many charging stations as gas stations.
The only thing stopping this are conservatives hell-bent on keeping the world enslaved to ever-depleting fossil fuels.
@vivify saidHow much energy is there in let's say 2 square meters of sun, how much energy does it require to move 2000Kgs along the road at 100 kmh.

Your dream of a solar powered car is infantile, your refusal to admit this very simple fact says a lot about how fanatical your beliefs are.
Review the last 20 posts, try some introspection, overcome your fanaticism.
@wajoma saidYou're being dumb. I never mentioned solar power as an exclusive source, now did i?

What does "electric/solar" mean, huh?
Maybe one day solar power technology could be enough. For now, electric cars like Tesla, which use solar to extend how far they can go, are far better options for this planet, and will only get better as they become more marketable.
@wajoma saidAdmit wrong about what exactly? I never talked about using solar power exclusively, so what are you talking about?
It will never be enough.
I state that with 100% confidence, that you are unable to admit you're wrong = waste of time.
It seems you realize you misread my post but dug yourself too deep to back out of your idiocy now.
@vivify saidhaha, we get it, by solar powered car you meant a gasoline powered car, or a coal powered car, or a natural gas powered car, or a nuclear power powered car. got it, roger that, message received haha.

Let's review:
- Wajoma claimed solar is not enough to power cars and was proved wrong when I brought up Tesla
- He then goes "okay it does power cars but I don't think a few miles is practical", only to be reminded Tesla is also electric, with 100 percent renewable charging stations on the way
Which leads us to this...rant? Joke? Who knows.
Electric/solar powered cars are the cheaper and better alternative.

@vivify saidWhy are you now saying 'electric/solar'.
Yawn.

My very first post admitted to there being solar cars, they are flimsy, unreliable, require a support vehicle, haven't got a hope of passing any safety standards, cannot carry passengers, and are impractical wastes of space.
If they really are a cheaper alternative even if you made them illegal people would be using them and trading them on the black market. Recently a Tesla owner very publicly set his car on fire because of the cost of replacing the battery which would have been recharged using fossil fuel generated power (if in California a measly 15% may have come from solar)
A solar powered car is a solar powered car. A solar powered car is not one that you plug into the socket and charge up with coal generated power.

How much energy is there in let's say 2 square meters of sun, how much energy does it require to move 2000Kgs along the road at 100 kmh.

a Bumble-Bee cannot fly. It's wing area is too small
for it's body. Of course, Bumble-Bees don't know
anything about the laws of aerodynamics.
