Must be alot of insecurity with people in the USA. I just do not understand why Americans feel that it is their god given right to carry a gun. And they are so proud of it. So much unnecessary violence in your everyday lives.....
Here we have very tight guns laws, and very low murder rates. I can't even remember the last time i saw a real gun...

And BTW, there's strong evidence those assault rifles come from the USA, you can't even buy them in Canada unless you work for the military. It's become such a problem in Toronto, that the mayor is meeting the ...[text shortened]... , that Republican hick from Carolina that Bush hired doesn't even know the capital of Canada...
Now all you have left to do is connect murdered Canadians to "no WMD" and your intellectual folly will be complete.
now back to the original post in progress...

There has been a dramatic rise in violent crime in Australia since the gun ban: http://www.chronwatch.com/content/contentDisplay.asp?aid=8073
And those low murder rates you speak of are murders by firearm only, Australia's murder rate dropped 11%, while the U.S. murder rate dropped 32% -- even though Americans bought 70 million guns during that same period.
Have you banned swords yet? How about crossbows? What's next pointed sticks.

People is gonna kill whether is using guns or a homemade knife, it just so happens that guns are the most conveniant, if you ban them, there will be other methods for people to kill, Guns dont kill, people does.
And dont forget that if you ban guns for the honest people, the crooked people is gonna feel allot more safer murdering somone.
One person at one time killed 1/4 of the earths population without the use of a gun, which in fact proves that guns dont kill, people does

As taken from the official Australian Crime Database.
In 1995 our homicide total FOR ALL OF AUSTRALIA was 356. In 2001 it was 340 (despite dramatic increase in population).
A drop to 340 murders for the whole country of Australia which has a population of 20 000 000. A very, very low number.
A dramatic increase? The only increase of crime that doesn’t match the population increase is assault. Which is anything from a fight at a bar to a road rage incident. No guns, no deaths. Simple.
Fact is, is that i feel safe enough in my own country to not worry about owning a gun. My front door is very very rarely locked, even at night.
Originally posted by flyUnityFreedom? You and me must have differing opinions on freedom. To me, freedom is knowing that i can sleep with my front door unlocked. To me, freedom is not having to worry about guns at all.

Paranoia is buying a gun to protect yourself from everyone else who has a gun in your country.
"here is the USA we value our freedoms unlike other countries who bans anything that is unsafe"
And that’s why your crime per capita is so much higher than any other country. To me, that’s not freedom. I'd rather have guns banned than to be killed by one. Simple.

Australia's murder rate dropped only 5%. (by your numbers)

My idea of freedom is being able to do sports like hunting, target practicing with my friends, shooting compitions. without the goverment contolling everything I do. Sure there will be killings, but if you ban guns, they will kill with a homemade crossbow, or anything
lets say if you wanted to kill somone, and had a gun, you would use the Gun, if you didnt have a gun, you would use a knife,
Guns dont kill. people do
Originally posted by xsQuite simple actually. You yourself say that there has been not much change in ten years. Would you like me to show you how much our population has increased over those ten years? Per capita, the homicide rate has gone down quite allot. And of those homicides, only 16% are from guns.

I wonder how many assaults would of turned into homicide if we all had guns?...........
Originally posted by ShonkytonkOh and I forgot, In my state most everyone got a guns, probaly more then any other state per capita, and I dont worry about me getting killed, I never have locked the door to my house (Except when I go on vacation) and the murder rate in my state is very low, even though there is probaly allot more guns here. I feel safer here, knowing that when I go in a store, there there are people in there that wear guns on them. In my church there is even 3 people that wears a handgun to church lol.

We can still do all those things. And apart from Guns, we can pretty much do what we want.
"Sure there will be killings, but if you ban guns, they will kill with a homemade crossbow, or anything"
When is the last time you saw someone carrying a crossbow around? Simple fact is, guns make it easier to kill people. SIMPLE!
Originally posted by ShonkytonkMy brother bought a very tiny crossbow off the internet for like $5.00, so small that you can easy put it under your coat, and it is very powerful and deadly, and if one wants to make it even more deadly, you can make this poisen that if it get into your blood you die in like 1 minute. and put it on the arrow. its very small and simple, its like 8 inches long and its 50 lbs of pressure,

do you think that should be banned? cause if somone is gonna kill, and dont have a gun, they are sure to use somthing like that. and even if they do ban it, it is really easy to make one
Originally posted by Shonkytonkyes I call it freedom, do you know the defintion of freedom?
Hmmm that makes you feel safe? I'd reather go to the store and know NO-ONE has a gun!
You call this freedom?
Id rather go in a store knowing 5 people has a gun, and murder has a gun, then going into a store knowing that 1 person has a deadly weapon, and no one to stop him if he goes into a killing spree
