If someone is a little hot under the collar, and they have a gun, they are more likely to use it. They are not going to walk home, go to the kitchen, get a knife, walk back and stab someone with it.
My brother bought a very tiny crossbow off the internet for like $5.00, so small that you can easy put it under your coat, and it is very powerful and deadly, and if one wants to make it even more deadly, you can make this poisen that if it get into your blood you die in like 1 minute. and put it on the arrow. its very small and simple, its like 8 inches lo ...[text shortened]... ey are sure to use somthing like that. and even if they do ban it, it is really easy to make one

I'm just asking because I feel that I can protect my house pretty well with the .12 gauge. As for hunting, well if you need an assault rifle to bring down an elk then I suggest you take up another activity.
oh, so why dont you ban swords? they kill dont they? also ban knives, ban model rocket populsions, I heard of somone recently that a guy snuck up behind a person with a pencil and put it through their eye right into the brain and killed him. Ban pencils, ban everything, that way you get more "freedom"
My idea of freedom is being able to do sports like ...[text shortened]... would use the Gun, if you didnt have a gun, you would use a knife,
Guns dont kill. people do
This question isn't just for you. It is for all of you that feel that assault rifles should be legal.
Why do you need assault rifles?
And the old "They are fun to shoot" arguement doesn't hold water. A lot of things that are fun are illegal.
Originally posted by CliffLandinIm not talking about assault rifles, I have no use for them, but isnt an assault gun mean that its a full automatic? Full automatics are already illegal to own.

I kindve agree that assault guns shouldnt be sold, but the only reason I would be againts banning it, would be because once the goverment starts banning guns, then they will just gradually keep banning more and more, untill they are all banned.
I know full automatic guns are already illegal, but I have some friends who turns semi automactics to full automatics,

Its not insecurity.. its called freedom.. here is the USA we value our freedoms unlike other countries who bans anything that is unsafe
People is gonna kill whether is using guns or a homemade knife, it just so happens that guns are the most conveniant, if you ban them, there will be other methods for people to kill, Guns dont kill, people does.
And ...[text shortened]... arths population without the use of a gun, which in fact proves that guns dont kill, people does

I see you are very much in favor of freedom. Good. Do you think a gay couple should have the freedom to marry?
however Same-sex marriage would start us down a "slippery slope" towards legalized incest, bestial marriage, polygamy and all kinds of other horrible consequences, so I dont think they should be getting a "license". What do you think of the idea of somone getting a marriage license getting married to a horse so they can have lower taxes?
Like I said before, Im not againts the act.
anyway this is off topic, so if you want to take this further we can do it in another thread

What about marrying a gun? That, in your eyes, could be seen as a benefit of legalising same sex marriages?

Hold on, just found this...
"Switzerland is frequently cited as an example of a country with high gun ownership and a low murder rate. However, Switzerland also has a high degree of gun control, and actually makes a better argument for gun regulation than gun liberalization.
Switzerland keeps only a small standing army, and relies much more heavily on its militia system for national defense. This means that most able-bodied civilian men of military age keep weapons at home in case of a national emergency. These weapons are fully automatic, military assault rifles, and by law they must be kept locked up. Their issue of 72 rounds of ammunition must be sealed, and it is strictly accounted for. This complicates their use for criminal purposes, in that they are difficult to conceal, and their use will be eventually discovered by the authorities.
As for civilian weapons, the cantons (states) issue licenses for handgun purchases on a "must issue" basis. Most, but not all, cantons require handgun registration. Any ammunition bought on the private market is also registered. Ammunition can be bought unregistered at government subsidized shooting ranges, but, by law, one must use all the ammunition at the range. (Unfortunately, this law is not really enforced, and gives Swiss gun owners a way to collect unregistered ammunition.) Because so many people own rifles, there is no regulation on carrying them, but 15 of the 26 cantons have regulations on carrying handguns.
Despite these regulations, Switzerland has the second highest handgun ownership and handgun murder rate in the industrialized world. A review of the statistics:
Percent of households with a handgun, 1991 (1)
United States 29%
Switzerland 14
Finland 7
Germany 7
Belgium 6
France 6
Canada 5
Norway 4
Europe 4
Australia 2
Netherlands 2
United Kingdom 1
Handgun murders (1992) (2)
Handgun 1992 Handgun Murder
Country Murders Population Rate (per 100,000)
-----------------------------------------------------------
United States 13,429 254,521,000 5.28
Switzerland 97 6,828,023 1.42
Canada 128 27,351,509 0.47
Sweden 36 8,602,157 0.42
Australia 13 17,576,354 0.07
United Kingdom 33 57,797,514 0.06
Japan 60 124,460,481 0.05
By contrast, Germany, France, Canada, Great Britain and Japan have virtually banned handguns and assault weapons to the general public."
Keep in mind these are 1992 figures.

Anyway, you answered my question: you think the government should be able to deny people the right to marry who they please (because of the remote possibility of bizarre future consequences), but not their right to have a gun (ignoring the immediate possiblity of real consequences). I'd say your position is inconsistent and illogical. Please don't talk about "freedom" anymore as you obviously don't really believe in it.

Guns don't kill people...people kill people. Years ago, back when there were things like "respect for your elders" and you could leave your doors unlocked because there was hardly any crime, there were still guns around. I think the media, movies, and video games glorifying shooting people are just as much to blame as anything else. Guns are tools, nothing more. If we never invented them, we would still be killing each other with knives and clubs.
