My work does not suck; however, there are trade-offs.

I will never be particularly rich, and maybe not well-off at all either, financially. The trade-off is that I'm my own boss, I am the emperor of my domain, and no one tells me what to do. Ever.

No one can buy my independence. I've made the choice not to be ruled by money and materialism and in return I have freedom. No paycheck in the world can give me that.

That's how I'm feeling. I've never had a job with homework before. I'm expected to go home and keep working - grading papers, preparing lessons, preparing worksheets, calling parents, etc.

When I go home I want to be FREE! But the educational system has this thing for keeping it's claws around your neck no matter when or where.

From what I understand current educational research is leaning towards not giving students homework any more, which I think is BRILLIANT!

Err... In case you haven't noticed, that's why the time you are actually in class is much less than a normal full working week.

I do agree, one tour for Jlilly in any branch of the military would do her much good.

I did a career in the Navy, admitedly only on submarines, but I only came across two homosexuals. If there were more, then they were deep in the closet. Although, I can not comment about the surface fleet.

Work does not have to suck, find something you love and do it.
Create something you can earn money with and love and do it, or
just do it, and find some other means to make yourself happy other
than your job! Use your job to support what really matters to you
and move on why cry about work being so bad?

Heaven forbid a teacher should show up prepared for a lesson ... or mark homework!

I'll say it again, stop being so lazy!

No wonder you support welfare states, you can't be bothered to work!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weltschmerz

Weltschmerz (from the German, meaning world-pain or world-weariness) is a term coined by the German author Jean Paul and denotes the kind of feeling experienced by someone who understands that physical reality can never satisfy the demands of the mind. This kind of pessimistic world view was widespread among several romantic authors such as Lord Byron, Giacomo Leopardi, François-René de Chateaubriand, Alfred de Musset, Nikolaus Lenau, and Heinrich Heine. It is also used to denote the feeling of sadness when thinking about the evils of the world—compare empathy, theodicy.

The modern meaning of Weltschmerz in the German language is the psychological pain caused by sadness that can occur when realizing that someone's own weaknesses are caused by the inappropriateness and cruelty of the world and (physical and social) circumstances. Weltschmerz in this meaning can cause depression, resignation and escapism, and can become a mental problem (compare to Hikikomori). The modern meaning should also be compared with the concept of anomie, or a kind of alienation, that Émile Durkheim wrote about in his sociological treatise Suicide.

The most important thing in life is the discovery of how to acheive lasting happiness. Money and posessions don't bring it, they only bring temporary pleasure. Happiness comes from the inside and is the result of being an optimist, learning how not to worry, not allowing yourself to become attached to things, not desiring things you haven't got, thinking wholesome thoughts, avoiding negative people, performing random acts of kindness and many many other things. In fact, I'm thinking of writing a book about it.
