A report out today says they have. Apparently the estimate for warming is based on the comforting way that the southern oceans absorb some Carbon dioxide, but, says the new findings, they have reached their limit.
What thinks you?

Is this a "religious" question? Or do you really expect to find anybody on a chess site with the scientific education and data to answer correctly?

How can I know? Do you have the study or studies that we can read through before committing to the religious declaration of allegiance?

I saw it on the news seams like a very important "discovery" if it's true. Yet only Chanel 4 is showing the report!
No unfortunatly I don't have an internett address to send you to I aimed to ask someone who had seen the news what they made of it.🙂

Oh no another crisis. I think that with the extra CO2, water will make a better fire fighting tool.

Thanks for that. I'll try 4 on the net and see if they list the study.]

(edit) Here is a link

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/technology/technology.html?in_article_id=455735&in_page_id=1965

and an excerpted study lead... I'll try to find the study over the weekend.

An international team led by Dr Corinne Le Quere, from the University of East Anglia and British Antarctic Survey collected data on atmospheric carbon dioxide from 11 stations in the Southern Ocean and 40 others across the globe.

I swear to god, that's one of the worst website designs I have seen in several years. Foxnews has been the reigning king of poor design for the last couple years, but that piece of crap gives fox a run for its money.

'Tis not so bad is it?!
Anyway, what did you think of the report?

Could be true I suppose. I couldn't disputed or agree with it.

I've certainly absorbed as much CO2 news as I can handle, so I can certainly sympathize with the oceans.

I wouldn't be surprised. Just because you (and I) are ignorant doens't mean everyone is.

We're all going to die! Oh my.

30 years ago Jaques Coustou said the oceans were dead and it was all over.

Just another end of times prediction. We'll see.

Anybody notice that anytime anybody tries to start an intelligent discussion of the issue certain people respond with the Rich Little strawman? Never any substance mind you, just hysterical accusations of hysteria.

It's almost as if they just don't want to hear about it.

"BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH LADEDADEDAAA! I CAN'T HEAAARR YOU!"

Its true, for some reason some people prefer the head in the sand, accompanied by ridicule approach.

K i figured out a plan. The top ocean has reached its CO2 limit, but the deep ocean hasn't. We need to funnel the deep ocean to the top.
