What is the best way to avoid dying?
Genetic manipulation, robot bodies, time travel, some form of all three?

Personally I figure that technology will improve enough in my lifetime that I will be able to download my consciousness into a replacement robot body: say within 50 years.
And to avoid the problems the universe dying, i.e. heat death/big crunch, etc, in the far distance future, if need be, I could use time travel to go back to point when the universe would be suitable.

But how would you you avoid death itself? Given the oppurtunity would you even try?

Yes.
However, conceivably I can see a point where I would be totally sick of life, maybe because the universe is stagnant, uninteresting and after an enormously long period of time I had done everything, I wouldn't have to continue to live if I wanted, and I would end it.

i don't agree. ending your life(suicide) is cowardice. so if you do get to live forever, you should be prepared and willing to do just that. no refunds.

A good take on this conundrum was Heinlein's "Time Enough For Love"

yes it is. it is the ultimate solution to your problems. instead of fighting you give up. it is cowardice.

suicide is not always cowardice. im sure it takes a lot of courage to make the difficult decision to end it, and to over-ride the self preservation instinct.
