She was not trying to overrun the officer. She was trying to escape, after being told several times to get out of the vehicle. In trying to escape she floored the gas, turned the steering wheel away from the officer, but she did brush close enough for the man to feel threatened. The officer was right to shoot. The intention of the officer was not to kill, the same way her intention was not to hit the officer.

Again the lesson is when there are weapons around, guns and in this case vehicles, you need to exercise some care. She chose the wrong road.
