"Ardeshir Hosseinpour[1] (1962 – January 15, 2007) was an Iranian junior scientist, assistant professor, and authority on electromagnetism.[2] He was also involved in the Iranian nuclear program.
Hosseinpour held a BSc degree in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. degree in physics from Shiraz University (2002).[3] He was an assistant physics professor of Shiraz University. Hosseinpour also taught at the Malik Ashtar University of Technology in Isfahan.
Hosseinpour was a co-founder researcher at the Uranium Conversion Facility at Isfahan[4][5], when he died on January 15, 2007 reportedly due to "gassing".[6] His death was not reported until six days after the event, first by the Al-Quds daily[7] and the Iranian Student's News Agency[8]. The U.S. private intelligence company Stratfor released a report on February 2, 2007 saying that Hosseinpour was killed by the Mossad through radioactive poisoning.[9][10][11][12] Other reports indicate that several other scientists were killed or injured, and treated in nearby hospitals.[2]
Despite these reports, the "semi-official"[13] Fars News Agency reported that an unnamed informed source in Tehran told them that Hosseinpour was not involved in the nuclear facility at Isfahan, and that he "suffocated by fumes from a faulty gas fire in sleep."[14]
